‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing’

My all time favorite movie is 'It's a Wonderful Life,' a classic, with Jimmy Stewart. If you've never seen it, well, you just should. It's about a man named George Bailey (Stewart) and when his life turns upside-down, he decides to end it all. His guardian angel, Clarence (who's trying to earn his wings) shows him what the world would've been like if he'd never been born. It is so powerful... to see the difference just one person can make in how things end up. Clarence shows George Bailey the world without his influence; and the evil man he fought, Mr. Potter, has taken over his town, Bedford Falls, and it's now called Pottersville. When George was alive, it was a great place to live, and when it shows Pottersville, it's mostly bars and strip clubs. As a matter of fact, it looks a lot like Loop 410 in San Antonio these days. Actually it looks like most of America.... We've become Pottersville.
There weren't (aren't) enough George Bailey's anymore. Why has everyone given up? Why don't we still fight like our life depended on it... because it DOES. There are a lot of 'Mr. Potters' in high places. Our checks and balances that used to be in place, no longer are. Even now in our government, the liberals (wait, they call themselves Progressives now) have the perfect Trifecta: a far Left President, 60% of the Congress and the mainstream media to corroborate. Until Scott Brown... Now here's a George Bailey. Ah yes, the power of one. At least he's trying. Sure the libs are trying to tear him down and find dirt on him like they've done with Sarah Palin. But he's young enough and green enough (or doesn't know any better) to take on the machine. Even President O made fun of his truck -- (those are fighting words here in Texas!) This president has zero class and has stayed in campaign mode, 24/7.
Half of this country is fed up with politicians who are playing with our money like it's a Monopoly game. These grass roots efforts are regular people like Joe the Plumber (discovered in the last presidential campaign.) We don't want bills passed without reading them (especially ones that cost trillions of our dollars.) We don't want nationalized healthcare. And we don't want trillions of debt that is then sold to the Chinese, so that they 'own' us.

We don't seem to be inspiring the next generation to be leaders. Is it because most mothers work and there's no time to inspire? Is it the public school system where God and prayer have been removed? So few in this next generation are becoming preachers, doctors or anything considered respectable. They all want to be pop stars like Britney Spears or hip hop stars like Jay Z. Society is breaking down because the family unit is breaking down. Parents are letting the school systems raise their kids.
And here we are 30 years down the road, and look what we've become? We need to somehow get back to how it was before... Maybe if we have more George Baileys, like Scott Brown, we can go back to saying,
"It's a Wonderful Life..."
