We will not forget...

"All it takes is money..."

Gone are the days when I could just pick a fun subject and post away. No, these days it's like this... you know, like when you're starving, you don't think about anything else except food? Well, this country is in such a heightened state of impending doom, that everything else pales. This administration is conducting a coup - a slow, yet fast coup, and NO ONE is stopping them. I'm guessing this regime sees the Tea Party as the only thing standing in their way of completely taking over as a dictatorship, thus has the IRS targeting Tea Party conservatives. Oh, and conservative Hollywood. Evidently they are pursuing them as well.
Now we hear that Dinesh D'Souza, the man who made "2016, Obama's America," a negative documentary on Obama, was indicted last week on charges he allegedly violated campaign finance law. He was released on a HALF A MILLION DOLLAR BOND and told his travel is restricted to the United States. Hello communism... What are we, China???  Reacting to this news, Gerald Mohlen, the creator of "Schindler's List" and also co-producer of D'Souza's documentary, said that he thinks D'Souza was targeted by the Obama administration because of the documentary, and said, "I never feared my government until now." Uh, duh... Everyone is afraid, so what this regime is doing is working. Fear is always the tactic of evil, which is also the same exact tactic that the terrorists use. But this administration has the media in their back pocket and now the IRS, who can do anything at any time. Oh, and let's not forget law enforcement doesn't need a warrant any more - all they have to do is "suspect" any wrong doing and that is subjective, of course. And we found out from Edward Snowden that the NSA is spying on common Americans in the most obtrusive ways, with no rhyme or reason, like through our iPhones and texts. And Obamacare will open up our bank accounts and health records to the government. Yippee...
I didn't even watch the Grammy awards since it has become pure debauchery, and evidently they did not disappoint... Beyonce, who has gone from pretty African-American Barbie singing "Put a ring on it" to a nasty, slutty performer doing S&M in a black thong, started the show with a simulated sex number with her rapper husband, Jay Z. Later, as Madonna sang a song with a gold grill on her teeth, 33 gay couples were married on stage at the AWARD SHOWS, in a complete surprise to the audience, making a complete mockery of marriage. On Facebook, the only feedback I saw was completely negative, and that included some national sites as well, so I guess that's encouraging.
But I go back to this... conservatives are not united. Yes, we all agree we don't like this president or his administration, but then it starts to split over the rest of the issues. And we don't have a George Soros who is a billionaire, willing to back our causes. It does go back to money, and uniting on causes. It's why the Tea Party has a bulls eye on it's back...

The new norm...

Never have I missed a week of blogs since I started, but things are just weird lately. My finances are at a critical state, and I'm interviewing for a new job. Currently I'm on 100% commission, and the position I'm interviewing is as well. The upside to new position - great owner, values me, appreciates my experience, understands my single mom situation. Downside? I would be a "contract" laborer (and not actual employee) which I have never done. I would have to pull out my own taxes and get my own healthcare benefits... which stinks.
Ugh.
I'm truly sitting on the fence trying to decide about this. Meanwhile DD was in Florida (Disneyworld) for a week with her dance team, so I was happy for her. My older daughter Alex has announced that she is pregnant with her second child, so lots of celebrating that. My son is underemployed at an entry-level job he hates, and my ex has been unemployed for over a year, and is desperate to find a job.
Whew.
There are days when I say I am NOT going to listen to the negative news but then I always do. And it takes all of my discipline to not "like" that stuff on Facebook, because everyone just wants "sunshine and lollipops." I leave my conservative bent for Twitter, and that seems to work well for me. It's funny because I have a "public" Instagram since I am very visually oriented, and watch people from all over the world. I follow lots of NYC photographers, who are all posting snow pix today but people all over. I did have this one girl (I guess) who called herself an American name and "liked" every single one of my photos, but then someone called her out, and said the picture was really a Turkish movie star. That turned out to be true so I blocked her. I'm not sure why someone would do that, but it's kind of creepy. Instagram is like Facebook in that I have "followers" locally that have added me, but we don't really know each other. And I'll see them places, and we acknowledge each other, because we follow each other's photos, but have nothing to say to each other, because we really haven't been introduced. It's weird, but I guess the new norm in this world. DD has over a thousand followers, so doesn't even watch her feed. She just posts occasionally and doesn't look at anyone else. That's good though, because she won't get jealous or get caught up in the drama. Evidently at her high school, none of the parents are on Twitter, so that is where all of the drama and nastyness comes in. I will say that even on Instagram, the kids don't care what some of the parents are seeing. Some of the high school kids that have followed me, I have followed back. Some were posting pictures this past weekend and videos of a "rave" which really was just a big drug party with strobe lights... AND ALL girls that were there were only in bras and panties, and they were extremely hooker looking. And those girls were even posting THOSE pictures :/  As I always say, "Where are the parents??" and even DD agreed. She doesn't hang out with those kids but one time about 6 months ago, one of those guys asked her to go to a movie, and I emphatically said no. He ended up having a wreck that night, and had a fractured knee.
Sigh.
My older kids say I'm a "helicopter" mom with DD but parenting is different these days from 15 years ago when they were in high school.
As I say, it's been weird lately......

Florida or bust!

All that glitters....

Ordinarily I post my texts with Alex (my fashionista grown daughter) and myself on our red carpet comments of the Golden Globes. And ordinarily this is my favorite award show of the year. But this year?? Not  so much... I can't really put my finger on why I say that. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were funny, but not as funny as in the past. And the fashion was not NEAR as entertaining as past shows. Everyone looked similar and seemed to all have the same stylists. Usually there are a few that really stand out for my "ooh's and aaah's" in both best dressed and worst, but not this year. As a matter of fact, I still don't even have a best or worst dressed. There weren't any crazys for me to be snarky about. And clearly these celebrities were asked or had decided to not mention Obama (not even once) or anything political for that matter. I guess they are so ecstatic with the way that things are, that they have no beef with anything?!? They think this administration is doing such a fine job, that nothing needs to be said?? At all??? Are they all living so 'high on the hog' that they understand the rest of us would be jealous?? Is this why all of the women dressed more casually, and all had their hair down like they were going to the grocery store (that is, if they actually do go to the grocery store, which most of them have "people" to do that for them.) Have they all lost their flair and decided to be white bread?? Is it because they are all getting younger and just don't have any class at all?? It just seemed that few had charisma. There weren't any you really had your eye on. Yes, some of the Hollywood heavyweights were there like Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, but they kept their mouths shut (and also did not win.) Julia had on a ridiculous black and white dress that looked like a man's button-down white dress shirt. And Meryl had on a frumpy black dress with big black glasses. Ugh. Maybe, consciously or not, they know that this country is suffering the worst I've seen in my lifetime, so they better keep their mouths shut and not look like royalty. Maybe that's why they dressed down?? But then George Clooney and Brad Pitt did not attend, yet both were invited since Clooney had "Gravity" nominated, and Brad Pitt had "12 Years a Slave" nominated. I'm not sure why they chose not to attend "the" party of the year. And their 'gravitas' was missing. Even the Cecil B. Demille award recipient, Woody Allen, was a no-show. Why? Nothing was mentioned that he was sick. And Cate Blanchett won Best Actress for his movie, Blue Jasmine. Why did Diane Keaton get out there and say a bunch of jibberish, and then sing an inane song?? Everyone thought she was just going to introduce Woody. I've NEVER seen the big award recipient just not show up... I don't know, it was weird that the three best dressed actresses were pregnant with dresses that looked stylish. The rest were boring - oh, except Jennifer Lawrence, who has signed with Dior, and looked like she put a white curtain and black rubber bands on. But at least that was somewhat entertaining. The only ones who looked like they drank too much (which they usually do at this party) were Emma Thompson (who seemed like she was just acting) and Jacquelyn Bisset (who seemed more on pills) yet neither were funny. It just never came together, which is disappointing.
Because right now, I need some escapism...

Practice random acts of kindness...

It's going to be a good day.... I was in the drive-through at Starbucks today and when I pulled up to the window, the barrista said it was all taken care of. "What??" I asked in gleeful disbelief. He said the car in front of me paid for mine as well.
THIS MADE MY DAY!! There is still hope in the world. Still a nice anonymous person out there willing to do a random act of kindness!! This may seem small, but it is HUGE! I don't get paid until Wednesday. I have very little money to make it to Wednesday. This is the broke -est I have ever been, or close. I was going to have my coffee be my lunch. So, to me, this wasn't just $2.98 -- it was something that gives me huge hope!! I said a prayer - a huge prayer - for whoever that person was, and will pray for them all day.
Sometimes it's the little things that give you a glimmer of hope...

Blood is thicker than water??

What a weird day... it was beautiful blue skies and in the 70's today in Texas, but it's deceiving because  it's not spring or summer yet, and everyone is out of money to do anything, and there are never any planned activities around here in January because of that. I found out tonight that one of my friends here in town lost her mother today.... Her mother had her late in life, sort of like I had DD, and it was a huge shock to the family. It always drives home that we never really know how much time we have left, so we need to be enjoying the present.
And I argued with my (grown) son today, as we are doing often lately... I don't want to argue but we see the same things happening in America and he blames conservatives and I blame liberals. We usually tell each other that we are not going to argue politics, but we both are so passionate about it, and WHY things are happening. And I get SO frustrated that my own flesh and blood could think so polar opposite to me.
For example, he was complaining that the Baby Boomers aren't retiring and are keeping jobs from HIS generation in the process. I countered that there would be more jobs if the guy HE voted for were not in office, and then there would be jobs for everyone to go around. I also added that the "Affordable Care Act" was also designed to get rid of seniors, with the death panels because (to them) we are dead weight (and are probably racist anyway.) He chimed in that there have been death panels for years with all insurance providers when they deny someone coverage.
He just doesn't have a clue.... He has no cable and only watches the evil "Trifecta" of ABC, CBS & NBC. And we all know what's happening there. Complete spinning of a few 'facts' along with "playing the soap opera" (according to Rush) where basically they just have an agenda and push it. So if the news fits with their agenda (for example, if any kind of shooting goes on, the mainstream media immediately starts trying to associate them as a 'right-wing, white, Southern gun nut who is in the Tea Party' when, in actuality, they have almost all been Obama voters.)
Anyway.
My son is just so blinded like all the rest of these yahoos. As a matter of fact, he "unfriended" me on Facebook because he said my posts were too conservative!! Typical liberal. He can't just breeze past my posts! No, he has to UNfriend his own mother because he doesn't even want to see the title of something conservative??? Arrrrrrgggggg, it makes me ANGRY!!
This is HIS future that we are talking about!! Oh, here's another instance. A mutual friend received the emergency unemployment benefits this week, as he's been out of work for a year. My son said that should make our friend want to vote Democrat since the unemployment continues. But I contend that if we have a financial conservative in office, he/she will be CREATING a market conducive to people wanting to grow and thus hire people. All dems are for is a quick fix, another handout and only fixing the symptom but not the actual cause.
If I can't convice my son, who CAN I convince?????

We've got spirit, yes we do, we've got spirit, how about you?

All the news that's fit to print

Okay, here are some of my recent tweets and my commentary:
-- States to NSA: Get a warrant -- Here's an idea. Many states are putting up legislation that the NSA would have to get a warrant instead of completely violating our privacy, which goes against our laws & constitution. May I remind readers here that if Edward Snowden had not told us this, we would still be in the dark...
-- The Girl Scouts have lost their mind -- Well, in all fairness, they have been extremely liberal for years but have now gone into Crazytown. They are working in cahoots with Planned Parenthood, Common Core, WAGGS (which is huge supporter of abortions for young women), ACLU, Amnesty International. the Population Council & the Sierra Club. Recent workshops had topics on sex such as "play with yourself" and encouraged young women to get "safe abortions..."
-- The Satanic temple wants to erect 7-foot-tall statue of satan on the grounds of the Oklahoma state capitol -- And the picture of it is even creepier since it looks like a very scary, ugly goat-man. It is such an in-your-face slap to Oklahomans and Americans, as they ask for the same respect as the old Christian denominations...
-- A first-grader in California was told "Jesus is not allowed in school" after he brought Christmas presents to school -- Taking Christ out of Christmas one example at a time...
-- Obama lectures on 'inequality' while Michelle parties it up at Oprah's mansion -- The hypocrisy of this president grows, as he and his wife get empowered by this do-nothing society that is allowing them to act as king and queen rather than the elected official that he is.
-- Epic Fail: Poverty level under Obama breaks 50-year record -- But you'll never hear it on the state-run propaganda machine media...
-- Obama admin uses taxpayer money to buy expensive Olympics ad space to promote Obamacare -- Again, should be illegal and probably is breaking a rule somewhere but no one is stopping this freight train to hell...
-- Retired military scientist exposes Fukushima cover-up in bombshell interview -- The media is not covering this. Have they been asked not to by this regime so as not to spark a panic on the West coast? People's lives are in danger. You would think that the media would fear for themselves as well? This is why I have always been 100% against nuclear power - the stakes are too high...
-- IAEA agreed in writing to conceal Fukushima radiation info from public -- see above
-- Ex-DARPA director wants you to swallow Google's edible microchip -- Wow, the stupidity of people baffles me. I doubt anyone over 50 would jump on board to do this idiot suggestion but probably the young will in their race to see who can be the most electronically advanced. The article says that the microchips would allow voice control over their electronics - Yeah... and a lot more...
-- Could this be the real reason the new NYC mayor vowed to ban horse carriages in NYC? -- Yep. Follow the money trail. Evidently the horse stables are on extremely valuable land in Manhattan and the libs have their eyes on it. Who cares if people still want the carriages or if it's been an NYC tradition since 1857?? Liberals always say they support the poor but it's a cover to get rich on our dime...
-- Muslim mortgages paid with more than $300 million - courtesy of US taxpayers -- Not a shock, but nauseating all the same. Again, is unethical and illegal but who's policing??
-- McDonald's poised to embrace new GMO potato farming in 2014 and beyond - Really?? Even China is rejecting our GMO corn but the most popular fast-food chain in America agrees to selling food that is proven to cause cancer and tumors...
-- Cop on paid administrative leave after allegedly executing restrained, 90 pound, 5'3" schizophrenic teen -- If you haven't noticed, there are too many police officers who think they are above the law these days. Why on earth would a cop restrain this troubled teen with a small screwdriver, tase him, and then shoot him dead after he was restrained?? The parents called for help but instead lost their son. Tragic... and infuriating...

Love in the Millenial

Aaaaaaaaaaah social media... a blessing AND a curse....
I guess it's like anything else on this planet - you can use it for good or you can use it for evil. (There I go again, it's always a choice - God gives us free will, but I digress.)
DD started dating a wonderful guy over the Christmas holidays and is over the moon! If you've followed my blog for any length of time, you would know that her first boyfriend broke her heart in many pieces, and then shattered it again. It took FOREVER for her to get over him, and finally, with God's help, she did. I never want to trivialize high school loves because we remember them always, like it was yesterday. It makes a life long impression.
Anyway.
I thought it was quite a show of this Millenial generation, when they discussed how they were going to "announce" it to their friends/school. Well, I mean more distant friends, because loverboy group texted all their friends the next day with the news. But in their generation, everything is how you market it, and that is always through social media. Mostly the teens are on "snapchat" where the picture goes away after a few seconds, and they do this ALL freaking day with their smartphones, and "snap" whatever they are doing (however mundane) and add some line like a song verse (or something more stupid?) and send them all day. Instagram has become the more social place for their pictures, and Facebook is now for adults only, but they keep their Facebook as a formality but RARELY go on.
But this boy is DD's age and goes to her school, and goes to church. I like his family and they have been very close friends for a few years, so all the right ingredients are there. He seems to be smitten, so that's all a mom can ask.

You'll have to read this to find out what's in it...

My apologies... I cannot seem to pick a subject like I used to and write on it, but I will try.
But not today.
You see, I'm mad. I'm mad that this country has been dumbed down. I'm mad that people who don't have God have taken over the public schools, and the arts, and organizations that used to be good for children like Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. I'm mad that the media isn't doing what they used to do as a checks and balance, but have become a propaganda machine for every liberal administration. I'm mad that when groups arise like the Tea Party, who are just a bunch of regular citizens at a grass roots level trying to fight this, are made out to be the enemy more than the jihadists who are trying to kill us at every juncture. I'm mad that I read this morning that the military is telling their people that they cannot donate to the Tea Party and/or Christian organizations like the American Family Association, which goes against everything the constitution says and stands for.
But mainly I'm mad because everyone has gotten too selfish and too fearful to actually fight this stuff. Even my pastor and most of my fellow church members have told me to just "give it to God" and that He will work it out. Arrrrrrrrgggggggggg. WHO DO YOU THINK HE'S GOING TO WORK IT OUT THROUGH???? God is a SPIRIT!!! He works through His children to get things done!! We are His arms, His legs, His mouth!! He speaks through us. He hugs through us. He helps through us. He changes things through us. What don't they GET about that!!! The liberals sure let the devil work through THEM to get things done, and make no mistake, that is EXACTLY what is happening. Every day I wake up to more and more nauseating stories, and they used to be in other countries, but this kind of sin and display are happening more and more in the USA to where we can hardly recognize this country anymore. Like the story of the guy shot and killed at a convenience store this week in the East Coast area, and not only did no one even stop to help, they STEPPED OVER HIM for over 15 minutes until help was called!!! Are there some bastions of good people? Yes, but they are fearful. They see the IRS has hired up to go out and prosecute all of Obamacare, the bill we"had to pass to see what was in it."  My good friend says it's too late to save this country, so you guessed it, he's not doing anything either. Some Christians are just standing there waiting to be raptured, because they're too scared or too lazy to actually do something. Many believe we are in the End Times, so what's the point?
I'LL TELL YOU WHAT THE POINT IS; Jesus told us to keep doing His work until He comes.
Just. Do. It.

Everything old is new again...

Happy New Year - I'm spending mine like many of you - watching football and trying to enjoy my time off of work. I did enjoy watching Johnny Manziel last night with his sheer determination to win. Now THAT'S why Americans love to watch football!! That "can-do" spirit of not giving up!!
When I check my Facebook and Twitter, I am reminded that today is just a nice holiday break from the realities that are going on. Football and resolutions are a nice way to distract from some of the ugly truths out there.
Some of the wisest words I've read today are from a ministry that said:
1. Believing the same thing you did last year and expecting a different behavior is a bad plan.
2. Making resolutions to change your behavior without changing what you believe about yourself and God, is futile.
3. Your behavior is a manifestation of what you believe about who you are, and who you think God is to you.
4. Change what you believe = change how you think.
Change how you think = change the way you behave.
Change the way you behave = change your life.
Change your life = change the world around you.
5. Jesus is always with you and He is there when you are ready to change what you believe.

This is some heavy truth that only older people would probably understand. And it is true that what you believe manifests in your life. If you believe "once saved, always saved," then you are not going to be as obedient as someone who believes they could lose their salvation. You get my point.
And resolutions? Why make them if you are only doing what you THINK you should be doing? You have to believe it's the right thing for you. And, of course, you have to WANT to do the right thing. Many don't care.
There are lots of things I want to do this year and most, if not all, are impossible unless God opens the door for them to happen. Consequently,
I will be praying a lot....
