"Make love, not war."

My personal opinion? The success of the TV show, "Mad Men," is a subconscious desire to return to simpler times. For those of us that remember the 60's and those of us who wish we had been there. I think feminism failed and women want to return to staying home if they want to, if it's even possible. I think that we miss women looking feminine and sexy instead of like unisex droids. We miss men being masculine, and being able to tell a woman that she looks pretty without being blamed that he's sexist. Many schools and workplaces won't even let a man tell a joke without being charged with sexual harrassment.
When it comes down to brass tacks, women and men are wired differently. Boys play with trucks and army guys and girls play with dolls - what a surprise! We need to celebrate our differences, and get back to how we were designed.
Maybe the pendulum is swinging back.
As was said in the 60's, I can dig it!

"You can all go to hell; I'm going to Texas." - Davy Crockett

Yes, it's a Monday and I'm really tired. My quick thought is that the older I get, the more I love Texas. Since visiting California since I was 12, I had always wanted to live there. The weather is such paradise. But when I really think about it, of course, I wouldn't want to be that far from family. And when I close my eyes and visualize, it's just not me. There's a 'can-do' spirit in Texas that you really can't find anywhere else. I mean adventurous people settled this land, many of them 'outlaws,' of which some of my relatives fall in this category. I know when I spent a month in Connecticut, it felt like I was in a different country. People down here just are fun, and loud, and daring and adventurous and well, smarter than the rest of the country. We just have more common sense. We're hardier. We fight for what we believe in. We're the most like the original people that came to America for freedom.
I'm finally happy with where I'm at.
And God bless Texas...

"I have a dream..."

It's been a stressful weekend, but my 'hope' is that 'change' is coming... I am VERY encouraged from Glenn Beck's rally in DC yesterday. Thank God that so many were willing to go and make a stand for righteousness. Glenn seems to really care about this nation. He knows inherently that only God can change the heart of Americans and our country's direction. He's on the 'front lines' of this social war, and is taking metaphorical bullets for us.

Pray for our country, and God Bless the USA.

"You deserve a break today, at McDonald's."

Somewhere we lost our way... we lost our moral compass.

And after years of living free in a very blessed country, we've gotten too spoiled. We've gotten too lazy. No one wants to work any more. Other countries have passed us by in education, because we don't put the importance on it that we used to. Everyone wants to just hit the lottery or become a 'star,' reality or otherwise. No one wants to find the cure for cancer anymore. (Besides, the drug companies wouldn't allow it any way - they would lose too much money.) Everyone wants to play all the time. There is a time for work and a time for play, but no one wants the first part any more.
Teachers don't want to teach much any more. They make good money now, with good retirement, and lots of days off, but they still aren't happy. Wall Street has gotten too greedy, and forgotten about giving back. Doctors used to get into medicine almost as a calling, but now it's all about the money. Media used to be about the truth but now it's all agendas and making money, however they can make the most. A man's word was his handshake, and neither are worth anything any more. There's no decency. There's no discipline. There's no kindness. Truth has become relative.
Where did it all break down? It's been coming slowly. Drop by drop. Decency started it's descent in the late 60's when it was decided to not censor near as much, and foul language and sexual statements entered the media. Reality shows are just a symptom of the root problem. Now it's a free for all. Civility has followed the same lines, with MTV leading the fray.
Another breakdown? The American family. When divorces became easy and marriages were taken lightly, life in America became much worse. Lots of working mothers. No one at home any more. Latch key kids. No attention. No discipline. Now the only way for people to make it is on a double income. We have daycare, and later teachers, raising our children. And they don't love the kids like the parents do.
We've gotten too busy. Too competitive. No one is home any more. No more family dinners. Rarely even any home cooking. Kids are at karate, gymnastics, dance, tennis, golf, football - you name it. America tells us we've got to beat everybody so we can be winners and have the most money, but do we really?
When my parents were young, kids were allowed to work at a fairly young age. After the age of 12, daycare will not accept them, and since they cannot work until they are 14 and in some states, 16, there are several more years of staying home without a parent to get into trouble.
Another sign? Prayer removed from schools, and that was just the beginning. It's now being pulled out of everything, including saying the words, "Merry Christmas" at Christmas time, or is that 'Winterfest' time now?! Even patriotism is being removed. No more Pledge of Allegiance. No more pride in our country. We're all just world citizens now...
Electronics. Big screen televisions. Computers. Laptops. iPads. Phones. Nothing is personal any more. It's all by email, text or social networking, but little in person. You can't see their smiles. You can't feel a hug. You can't smell the perfume.
We're just all too busy with busyness. Life is going by faster than it used to and I'm not sure how. There is no free time any more. I think our political system has broken down, because no one has time to invest in learning about it, and the politicians aren't going to allow themselves be voted out or for worse things like healthcare that they've voted for the rest of us.
It starts with you and me. We've got to make a commitment to ourselves, our families, to our country, that we will do all we can to mitigate this growing problem. I'm part of the problem too. I've gotten caught up in the competition. It's just not worth it.
I don't think it's too late. I think we can still turn it around.
With God's help, I believe it's possible....

WTHeck Fridays

Out of Australia this week comes a story that a woman had twins prematurely at 27 weeks, one of which the doctors declared dead after 20 minutes of trying to get him to breathe. The parents were, of course, devastated and asked to hold him to tell him goodbye. The mother took all of his clothes off and layed him on her, and kept hugging him, touching him and talking to him. After two hours, he made a gasp, but the doctors said it was a reflex. But then the startled mother fed him a little breast milk from her finger and he started breathing normally. A short time later the baby opened his eyes. The doctor was in disbelief. Her son is now 5 months old and fully recovered. "Kangaroo care" is recommended for preemies for speedier help.

Wow.

"I never shot nobody I didn't have to." - John Wayne

I miss real men.... I watched a John Wayne western on Saturday and I didn't want to leave. It was so simple. Good guys vs. bad guys. With real men. And feminine women. I miss that. I'm tired of effeminate men and masculine women. The whole world is turned upside down. I miss the simplicity of life. Back in the days portrayed by westerns, life was a lot simpler. There are too many electronics now. Too much traffic. Too much chaos. Too many wienies.

"There's two reasons to kill - survival and meat. We need meat."
"Young fella, if you're lookin' for trouble I'll accomodate ya."
"If everything isn't black and white, I say, 'Why the hell not?' "
Ah, the good old days...

Well, that's exactly how I feel today. Defeated. I didn't win the battle today, but I plan on winning the war... It all gets overwhelming. When will relief come?

9/11: North Tower "Collapse" (new video)

"An army of one..."

Where are the good role models for my 13 year old?? It's reported today that Miley Cyrus is filming a movie with Demi Moore as her mother, as a pot-smoking, virginity losing, bisexually curious teen... Wow. You know we all don't live in California where that is normal. My daughter has grown up watching Disney's "Hannah Montana." It has now run it's course, and she doesn't even like Miley Cyrus any more, but this movie is going to influence so many young girls (and even boys.) It says all of this is okay if Miley Cyrus even plays the part, and don't EVEN argue with me about that one. I also read today that Selena Gomez is sick of being called a 'good girl.' She says it's false any way. Great... What is it with Disney kids and going wacko? Britney Spears is the poster child for that one, with Lindsay Lohan as a close second. I can only think of Hilary Duff as having turned out pretty decent. I mean seriously, Disney should realize they have a problem. A big problem. Whatever they are doing needs to be changed. These kids need to be helped with Life Coaches, or SOMETHING. It's almost expected now that this has happened to so many.
What happened to innocence? Kids these days see so many sexual images in media that they have these early expectations that prior generations never had. It's gotten worse even over the last ten years.
Well, it's up to us to 'just say no.' If we don't watch this stuff, or buy this stuff, it will go away.
It's got to start with us.

"Life is God's novel. Let Him write it."

You have a choice, either you can write your novel, or you can leave it for God. I know I tried most of my life to write my own, but to no avail... I came to a point where I just couldn't do it anymore. I made a mess of my life, and have regrets I will have for the rest of my life. We all will reap what we sow. Period. It's a law you cannot change. And if you mess up, God will forgive you, but there will still be consequences. It's the law...

God is writing my novel now. It's a lot different, and that is a good thing. We always hear the analogy of "Jesus, take the wheel," but it's the best one I can think of. Either you're driving or He is; you both cannot drive at the same time. And the more you listen to God, the better you hear. It takes a while to develop that special hearing to hear what God is saying to you, (at least it did for me.) But I'm pretty hard-headed, and prior to this, learned everything at the 'School of Hard Knocks.'
As in all novels, there will be conflict. But it will be resolved. God promises to take care of His children's needs. And He also says that, not only will you live with Him eternally in heaven, but that you can also have an abundant life here on earth.
Now THAT'S a happy ending.

WTHeck Fridays - eye for an eye

True story.... reporting today in Saudi Arabia that the man who ACCIDENTALLY paralyzed another man, might have to have HIS spine broken to paralyze him, due to Islamic law based on the ancient code, 'eye for an eye.' This, after his other sentence of seven months in prison.

Wow... America, we had better wake up. People of this faith are coming here to conquer, and to initiate their Sharia law. They already have a foothold in Western Europe.
We have religious freedom in the USA, based on Judeo-Christian principles from the Bible's Ten Commandments. Islamic laws, however, are revenge-based. They believe that lying is okay, if it is to the 'infidel.' Murder is okay, if it is the infidel. Making women lower than dogs is justified.
WAKE UP AMERICA.

"It's hotter than a rolex from Vinnie on the corner."

It's hot here in Texas. Real hot. And when we get in the 'Dog Days of Summer,' no one wants to do anything but go inside and talk about how hot it is. It's how I suppose it is in Colorado in January, as we get 'cabin fever,' only for the opposite reason. I'm in sales, so I have to go out in the morning to talk to people because by the afternoon, all of my client's eyes glaze over, and they are cranky and just say no to everything. The grass is crunchy and no amount of watering seems to quench the thirst. In August our only hope for a little cooler weather is a hurricane or tropical storm in the Gulf, but this year we've only had two, and they hit the bottom tip of Texas early summer. So much for the weather experts - they said it would be an active hurricane season this year in the Gulf.
I want THAT job, where you can be totally wrong most of the time and not get fired...

"We the people, in order to form a more perfect union..."

Yes, I'm going to weigh in on the prospective mosque at Ground Zero. THIS IS COMMON SENSE PEOPLE!!!
Hello!? The radical Islamists attacked Americans by hijacking 3 jets and flew them into the tallest buildings in the U.S., the World Trade Center and also Pentagon but were foiled in the 4th jet heading for the White House.
Most Americans with any sense view the area where the World Trade Center as sacred ground, much as we view the area of Pearl Harbor when we were attacked by the Japanese. To allow the same religion to build a mosque IN THE SAME AREA is preposterous!! They have said they want to name it the "Cordoba" Center. Cordoba, in Islamic symbolic terms, means Islamic rule in the West, not "coexistence" as some will tell you.
As my co-worker said, this is like building a KKK center (which we, of course, abhor) on Obama's childhood home.
This is insulting, anyway you slice it...

"Fly the Friendly Skies with United"

Remember the old advertising slogan, "Fly the Friendly Skies with United?" Well, evidently they're not so friendly lately. Maybe it's the heat, maybe it's the economy, or maybe it's all the rules about flying, but airline passengers have never been as unruly as they have this summer. We had the rude passenger on JetBlue that prompted Steven Slater to chunk his job, and quit in a blaze of glory. The next day, JetBlue had another rude passenger, and had to land early. Today we hear about a mother of a one year old flying from Dallas to Albuquerque, who slapped her child, so they took the baby away from her for the rest of the flight. The way I understand it, it wasn't a spanking but a slap, with the insinuation that it was on the face? (Aren't most slaps in the face?)

In the old days, flying was a big deal where everyone dressed up, and acted like they were in church or court. Stewardesses (now 'flight attendants') dressed up, and had to be under a certain weight, and were weighed daily. Now, it's like riding in a bus in the sky. And with the loss of civility in this country (and in the West), people are behaving badly. No one has manners anymore. The 'Mile High Club,' popular in the 80's, is mild compared to the stories we hear now. Stories such as people, thousands of feet up in the air, trying to open the emergency door IN FLIGHT.
I like driving... I think I'll stick with that...

"In America, we're free to do what we want until we infringe on someone else's rights."

In Dearborn, Michigan, a Detroit suburb known as the capital of Arab-America, a high school football team is holding football practices from 11 pm to 4 am. They are doing this for the predominantly muslim team players who are in Ramadan, and fast in the daytime. Rami Fakih, a wide receiver for the team, and brother of the new Miss USA, Rima Fakih, said it has taken some adjustments. He remembers he can drink during practice, rather than holding back, since it's night time. I've also read stories that muslims that worked for Dell Computers, asked that they could stop at work and pray to Mecca. And, there is discussion in New York City of building a mosque on the sacred ground of where radical muslims murdered over 3,000 innocent people on 9-11.

Connect the dots.

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

I come from the generation where the girl's names are Debbie, Nancy, Kathy, Laurie, Linda, Melissa, Becky, Cindy, Susan, Judy, Pam, Janet.... you get the idea. Names are a funny thing. When we were naming our older two children, we thought we were being so unusual. My son was born first in Dallas, and as we sat gazing at him in the nursery, we stood next to a couple who had been in our lamaze class. We asked what they had. A boy (just like us.) We asked what day. Yesterday (just like us.) We asked his first name. Same as us... We asked his middle name. Same as us! And, at the time, this name was very unusual. So much so, that at work, they asked, "Is that a family name?" in the tone that says 'yuck.' Two years later, my daughter was born, and again, we thought we were so unusual. When she went to a large Texas university, HALF the girls on her dorm hall had the same name. And I am NOT exaggerating... Evidently, the same happened with my parents in naming me. Yet with my older sister, she got the good name. The name that I've never heard anyone have my whole life. And no one EVER forgets her name. It's adorable. It has gotten her in doors. It has gotten her scholarship money. Her name alone really did help make her 'popular.' She was homecoming queen at our high school. It's a great name.

So, in naming my third child, I wasn't about to go with the norms. All the names we thought of are all of the names of the girls in her class at school. Names that seemed fairly unusual at the time, are all of her friends. They are cute names. They are sweet names. But they are still the same names as all the other girls. I finally found an unusual name that is still acceptable. Fortunately, no one ever forgets her name.
Mission accomplished...

"Purpose is what gives life a meaning."

We're all put here on earth for a purpose, and are given talents and abilities to do specific jobs. My son, Bubba, would make a great attorney. He can argue his point, where you just can't argue with him anymore. I probably wouldn't recommend a more stressful end of law, but maybe real estate law, or one he feels passionate about. I also think he would be great working in rehab or with special needs folks, as he is very patient and kind with the less fortunate. My oldest daughter Alex is Type A, very organized and beautiful. I could really see her owning a bridal shop, since she's always cared a lot for fashion, and would be excellent in this field. She could work with friends that are wedding coordinators, and it's a business that will always survive. She also excelled in photography, and has a keen eye for that. My youngest, DD, is destined for the arts. She's already an excellent writer, dancer or possible artist. She too has an artist's eye for computer graphics and it comes easy for her. She doesn't want an 8-5 office job, so she needs to move into the arts. My friend P. also has a good eye for photography, and would make a great videographer (maybe for older daughter's wedding business) or photographer. He started out in college in film & television, and regrets getting out for sales. Maybe now's the time. My son-in-law is a great cook, with a fun personality and would be fabulous in the catering business - he too can be a part of the wedding coordination.
It's God that finds us the jobs, we don't have to worry about the economy. God is still on the throne and still has a purpose for our lives, in spite of the Great Recession.
Let's do what we were created to do...

WTHeck Fridays - another vacation

Yes, I'm still ripping off Sassy's WTF Fridays only cleaner...)

Today, my 'What the Heck Friday' is that the Obama's are going on MORE vacations. First they will spend 27 hours at the 'Redneck Riviera,' (the Gulf Coast), so that they won't be hypocrites, spending ALL of their vacation in the elite vacation area of Martha's Vineyard. No, first they will go to Florida (not Louisiana, Alabama or Mississippi) where the least of the damage from the BP oil spill happened. This is after the muslim dinner tonight for Ramadan.
Then, I guess they are spending the next few weeks at Martha's Vineyard with all of the Ruling Class people. You know, because Democrats and liberals are the 'Working Man's' party... For a man who keeps wanting photo opps having a beer and a hamburger with the working man, his actions (and his wife's, "Mooch-elle" as Rush affectionately calls her) say that they are royalty. Are these guys just practicing how it's going to be when the country falls, and they become king and queen? The last time I checked, he was still an ELECTED president, that our tax dollars pay for in this (still) free country. And here we are, most of us struggling to keep our head above water while he preaches sacrifice.
Shown here is the Blue Heron Farm in Martha's Vineyard where they will be staying (estimated cost to rent is $35,000 - $50,000 weekly.) It includes a main house, guest house, boat house, basketball court and putting green. A couple from Mississippi owns it, who were McCain supporters. "A group of White House advisers and a contingent from the Secret Service will round out the vacationers."
I'm counting the days til the next election...

"We can't all be heroes, because somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by." - Will Rogers

Wow, in one of the best "Take this job and shove it" moments in recent history, Steven Slater has captured the heart of overworked Americans. With most of us doing tons more work for way less money, Slater's action was vicarious to people like me, who can only fantasize about going out in a blaze of glory. Almost everyone I know is overworked and underpaid, and I'm not blaming it on all the bosses, as they are now dealing with the 'powers that be' - as Bush's tax cuts are phasing out, and huge Obamacare costs are phasing in. I liken it to the child's game, "musical chairs," where they march around a circle of chairs to music, and when the song stops, another chair has been pulled out of the game, and everyone scrambles to find a chair. The country is in slow-motion free fall, and this administration keeps making the polar opposite choice of what is best for business in America.

Steven Slater had finally had enough. He grabbed the microphone, yelled some F-bombs over the speaker, grabbed a few beers, pulled the shoot, and slid to his retirement.
When I first saw the story on the internet, I tried to imagine what it was like to be a passenger on the plane. And once I had realized that we were all still safe, then I probably would've laughed really hard. I'm sure the passengers knew immediately that they had a funny story to tell their co-workers. And now, news stations are clamoring to get him as a guest. Flight attendant associations are offering him legal service. And I'm sure Hollywood will come calling soon.
Slater will go in the 'Shove it' Hall of Fame, and might even become a verb, like "I think I'm going to Slater."
It's the American way...

"Men are only as loyal as their options."

OMG! I do feel terribly sorry for Bristol Palin because she will be tied to this horrid 'Baby Daddy' for the rest of her life... Granted, she was really young when she got pregnant, and I'm sure his good looks were all she could see.

And now? She's 19 with a baby (who IS gorgeous), no college, and trying to make ends meet. When they announced they were getting back together again, and were going to get married, few thought it was a good idea. Few thought it would last. After all he had said about the Palins? And going to Hollywood doing magazine shoots for Playgirl and buddying up with Kathy Griffin, who might be the spawn of satan....
And it did cross my mind that the marriage was due to her challenging financial situation. The magazine cover brought lots of money, but word on the street was, to get the payoff, she couldn't tell her parents. (This would bring more drama since Sarah Palin would have to find out like the rest of us, through the media.) And most mothers want to have the father raise the child if they are decent, but it turns out, that Levi is not. Bristol found out the day the magazine hit the stands, that Levi may have gotten a recent girlfriend pregnant AND was going to do a reality show, which insinuated dissing the Palin family... It was more than Bristol could take.
And now, Levi is going to do the reality show about running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska (a job Sarah Palin had before being elected governor of Alaska.... What a jerk. Levi is scum.
He could've lived a good life with Bristol and son, but he's thrown it all away for his 15 minutes of fame. Hope it was worth it.

"I am my own experiment. I am my own work of art." - Madonna Ciccone

Here is Stephani Germanotta in 2005, looking like someone you'd see anywhere in the U.S.
Fast forward to this week, after the transformation of Stephani into "Lady GaGa," trying to outdo herself with wackiness.
Clearly she has fashioned herself after Madonna, with costumes you won't soon forget. Both are Italian heritage, raised Catholic with a penchant for pushing the envelope.
She also went to Catholic schools, oddly, the same one as Paris Hilton.
Seems she'll do almost anything for attention...
And we have to ask ourselves, how is this young woman so popular? She sings pretty well, but then so do thousands more. Just two to three years ago, she was still an unknown to most. But she has transformed herself into an icon with the bazaar clothes and antics. There have been those before her. Cher comes to mind in the 70's with the Vegas showgirl types of costumes. Of course, Madonna as well. But we all watch in some sort of voyeur way, like we are waiting for her bazaarness to entertain us. What WILL she do next? Her drama captivates and intoxicates. Her pc views are the Hollywood way.

What kind of people are intrigued by this kind of person? A dumbed-down, bored, spoiled, fickle, antsy, worldly type.
God help us all...

"God could not be everywhere, so He created mothers."

It's been a long Monday with lots of drama and crummy news. So I'm trying to think of something positive with all of the bad news out there....

You know what gives me hope for this country? The good mothers out there. The ones that love their children and are trying to raise them right. The ones that take their children to church and teach them about God. The ones that discipline their children with love, so that they won't be spoiled. The ones that sacrifice so their kids can go to schools that pray. The ones that read good books to their kids at night. The ones that tell their daughters that their clothes are too old for them. That don't let them grow up too fast. The ones that lead by example.
Are there bad moms out there? Yes. But the good ones give me hope for the next generation.

Snarky Sunday

Fashion Police say: The prince and woman on right look classy and very rich. The other 3? Not so much... What's with the First Lady and her daughter's silver and gold shoes? Their outfits are embarressing. And Princess Sophia? All that money and she chooses that outfit?! WTH?
Hmmm.... Lady GaGa looks like she's in Sodom & Gomorrah.... and liking it
Wow - his moobs are bigger than most of my friends
Brody is a complete goober.... He gets a mohawk and an "A" branded on his head for Avril?

"To be humble to superiors is duty, to equals courtesy, to inferiors nobleness." - Benjamin Franklin

Well, since I am in big need of money, a lady from church asked me and my youngest if we would like to help out yesterday for a venue she and her husband own that holds (mostly) weddings. This is a Godsend, as we are hurting. We worked 10 hours yesterday to set up for the wedding, serve the dinner and drinks, cut the cake, and then clean up. Whew!
And we live in Texas, and it was an afternoon wedding with 100 degrees! The wedding was half indoors and half outdoors. They arrived for appetizers indoors, bar was outdoors, and dinner was in a tent outdoors, then back indoors (when it was cooler) for dancing. We almost ran out of ice since we poured ice water the entire time.
The bride and groom were darling, and the guests were all great. I think the older guests felt sorry for me, as the lone Baby Boomer working with 9 other teenagers, kind of like I feel sorry for the old guys that are greeters at Wal-Mart. But hey, we're all thankful for the money we can make in these oppressive days.
As servers, we had to wear black pants, black shoes, and they provided the man's white button-down shirt, the man's tie, and a black apron. We looked very official. And I never realized how 'servant' you feel in these clothes, almost invisible. Half the people don't even notice you. It's very strange to watch all these people dressed up, having fun, eating, drinking and dancing, while you cater to them. It felt very 'Cinderella,' like they were the lucky ones, and I'm trying to survive.
I found myself striking up conversations with the guests since I'm in sales in my 'real' life, and then they seemed surprised that the 'help' was talking to them, yet were still nice. Then I'd catch myself, and try to blend in the background. I found the older folks nicer than the younger, as the latter seemed to want to order me around. But I signed up for this, so okay...
The band was awesome - best wedding band I've ever heard. I wanted to dance! Have fun! Cut loose! But, alas, I could not. I'm a paid worker. After we finished, and all sat there completely exhausted from 9 hours on our feet with no breaks, we changed out of our sweaty clothes and waited for paychecks. Once we got back in our regular clothes, we all seemed to get our personalities back and felt human again. Got home by midnight, with throbbing feet.
Now that I've worked 'the other side,' I'll be extra nice to anyone who ever waits on me again...

"If you can dream it - you can do it." - Walt Disney

Most of these self help books tell you to have a dream board. You have to visualize what you want. You have to look at it often. You have to imagine yourself there or having what you want. You have to make it happen in your head first. Then the dream will start to happen. Disney dreamed it. He drew it. And it started happening. Let's do it too!!

"God created Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve..."

Okay, let's get this straight... In 2000, California passed Proposition 22 which was to honor marriages only between opposite-sex couples. In May 2008, it was struck down by the California Supreme Court as contrary to the state constitution. In November 2008, Proposition 8 passed in California which provided that "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Same sex couples and government entities filed numerous lawsuits with the California Supreme Court challenging the proposition's validity.

Yesterday, a United States district court Judge Vaughn Walker overturned Proposition 8, and issued an injunction against enforcing Proposition 8.
So.... one man, Judge Walker, who is gay (but we're told that is irrelevant) just threw out the 7 million votes by Californians. California voted. Twice. And both times the majority voted that "marriage" is between a man and a woman only. Marriage has had this definition since the beginning of time. God created marriage between a man and a woman. Their bodies blend in such a way that procreation is possible. It creates lineage in families. We have mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers and up the family line. Gays and lesbians have been able to have civil unions with their civil rights. But they want to redefine the definition of marriage from the way that it has always been.
This will always go back to your faith in how you view this situation. If you believe the Bible, you will know what God created. What the Bible says about homosexuality. And if you don't give any credence to the Bible, then you will probably follow what Hollywood tells you is cool.
So on Judgment Day and you meet your Maker, are you going to say, "Lord, I followed what You said," or will you shake your finger in His face and say, "I don't believe in You."
One day, EVERY knee shall bow, like it or not...

"Your birthday is a special time to celebrate the gift of 'you' to the world."

Today is President Obama's birthday.

It also is the birthday of his wife Michelle....
I find it interesting that they chose to not spend the day together sharing their birthday.
I imagine Michelle said, "I want to spend my birthday at some fabulous resort in Europe."
And Barack probably said, "Well, if I could be anywhere, and I CAN, I would want to be in Chicago" with all his buds, doing what his favorite past time is, fundraising.
So... looks like they both got their wish. Originally the news reported that Michelle and entourage had rented 30 rooms, but that was wrong. It's 60 rooms. That's half the hotel! OMG! Does she have that many close friends to spend her birthday with? Are they all body guards? How much will this cost us, the tax payers? You know the ones he wants to raise taxes on?
While you're out having a great time, I'm the brokest I've ever been due to the worst economy in my lifetime, and since the 1930's. We don't get to go ANYWHERE...
Happy Birthday Mr. President.
And Happy Birthday to the First Lady too...
