A US Senate committee has approved Liebermann's wide-ranging cybersecurity bill that would give the US president the authority to shut down parts of the Internet during a cyberattack.
Does this smack anyone up side the head??? If we do not keep the internet open and free like it is, when someone evil is in power, they can stop Americans from talking to each other. Yes, free speech.... supposed to be guaranteed to us in the First Amendment.
This is the scariest legislation I've heard of, scarier than government taking over healthcare or GM. This makes no sense and has hardly gotten any press. Here we are in the summer time when Americans want to just vacation and be with friends and family. As we approach the July 4th weekend, the majority of vacations will be taking place in the next few weeks. Most people are tired of listening to politics and are weary of the battering of legislation at break-neck speed since the inauguration almost a year and a half ago. And this is insidious to pass this when Americans are vacationing. Pay closer attention everyone.
