Out of Australia this week comes a story that a woman had twins prematurely at 27 weeks, one of which the doctors declared dead after 20 minutes of trying to get him to breathe. The parents were, of course, devastated and asked to hold him to tell him goodbye. The mother took all of his clothes off and layed him on her, and kept hugging him, touching him and talking to him. After two hours, he made a gasp, but the doctors said it was a reflex. But then the startled mother fed him a little breast milk from her finger and he started breathing normally. A short time later the baby opened his eyes. The doctor was in disbelief. Her son is now 5 months old and fully recovered. "Kangaroo care" is recommended for preemies for speedier help.
