"I am my own experiment. I am my own work of art." - Madonna Ciccone

Here is Stephani Germanotta in 2005, looking like someone you'd see anywhere in the U.S.
Fast forward to this week, after the transformation of Stephani into "Lady GaGa," trying to outdo herself with wackiness.
Clearly she has fashioned herself after Madonna, with costumes you won't soon forget. Both are Italian heritage, raised Catholic with a penchant for pushing the envelope.
She also went to Catholic schools, oddly, the same one as Paris Hilton.
Seems she'll do almost anything for attention...
And we have to ask ourselves, how is this young woman so popular? She sings pretty well, but then so do thousands more. Just two to three years ago, she was still an unknown to most. But she has transformed herself into an icon with the bazaar clothes and antics. There have been those before her. Cher comes to mind in the 70's with the Vegas showgirl types of costumes. Of course, Madonna as well. But we all watch in some sort of voyeur way, like we are waiting for her bazaarness to entertain us. What WILL she do next? Her drama captivates and intoxicates. Her pc views are the Hollywood way.

What kind of people are intrigued by this kind of person? A dumbed-down, bored, spoiled, fickle, antsy, worldly type.
God help us all...
