Time to take it back

Was thinking today that it's time to take it back - - all of it - time to take it back. Was talking to a high school (male) teacher in our town, who is around 40 years old, math teacher, who has two daughters at my daughter's school. He and the other high school teachers have told me that it's not like it was when we were young. It's not even like it was 15 years ago. He says when he tells his class that it's time for the test (that they knew was coming) they all start being rebellious and refusing to take it. Hmmffff. It's time to take the classroom back. It's time to take the schools back. It's time to say a prayer in school. It's time to say the Pledge of Allegiance, which they don't even do anymore. It's time to kick them out of class. It's time to start flunking them rather than just pass them to get their state rating. These days they cajole the kids to pleeeeeease stay in class and pleeeeeease don't drop out, so that their state rating remains high and they get more money. Wow, it always goes back to that... Follow the money trail. (THERE'S a saying my dad would've said if he were still alive.) Does anyone really care anymore about people?? Doctors and nurses used to really care, but now so many are in it for the money. Teachers used to really care, or at least a lot of them did, now they seem to mark time until their next holiday (which are all the time) and until summer. Teachers make a lot more than I do, have great benefits and great government retirement and all of the holidays. CAN'T THEY DO THEIR JOB WHILE THEY ARE THERE??? With all of the sex, drugs and rock n roll mentality in schools these days, no one wants to do what's best for the kids - DISCIPLINE THEM!! TELL THEM NO!! Obviously this starts at home, I understand. And I am trying to do my best with my child that is still under 18. Was talking to one of my clients today who has three well-behaved high schoolers. He said everyone asks him and his wife what they have done that they are turning out so well. He said, we decided early on -- no meant no -- one time. As a couple they are always unified on what they tell their kids, and dad is the boss. He said kids usually will cajole parents or have fits until the parent says yes. They didn't put up with that. The first no meant no. Oh, and they don't own a television. So every night they talk and play games and do other stuff...

Don't knock it -- it works...
