Aaaaaaaaaaah social media... a blessing AND a curse....
I guess it's like anything else on this planet - you can use it for good or you can use it for evil. (There I go again, it's always a choice - God gives us free will, but I digress.)
DD started dating a wonderful guy over the Christmas holidays and is over the moon! If you've followed my blog for any length of time, you would know that her first boyfriend broke her heart in many pieces, and then shattered it again. It took FOREVER for her to get over him, and finally, with God's help, she did. I never want to trivialize high school loves because we remember them always, like it was yesterday. It makes a life long impression.
Anyway.
I thought it was quite a show of this Millenial generation, when they discussed how they were going to "announce" it to their friends/school. Well, I mean more distant friends, because loverboy group texted all their friends the next day with the news. But in their generation, everything is how you market it, and that is always through social media. Mostly the teens are on "snapchat" where the picture goes away after a few seconds, and they do this ALL freaking day with their smartphones, and "snap" whatever they are doing (however mundane) and add some line like a song verse (or something more stupid?) and send them all day. Instagram has become the more social place for their pictures, and Facebook is now for adults only, but they keep their Facebook as a formality but RARELY go on.
But this boy is DD's age and goes to her school, and goes to church. I like his family and they have been very close friends for a few years, so all the right ingredients are there. He seems to be smitten, so that's all a mom can ask.
