Does anybody else find this completely creepy? This is actually a styrofoam creation designed to be an ad for a British beauty company Soap and Glory on display in Hamburg, Germany's Alster Lake. Weird...

"IF my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways..."
THEN I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and will heal their land."
How refreshing to see a governor of a large state pray for our nation. To recognize that all good gifts come from our Father in heaven. Yes, Texas' Governor Rick Perry isn't afraid to pray, nor is he afraid to call this huge gathering today for people all over this nation to humble themselves and ask God for His mercy and grace.

"The only difference between the USA and the Titanic? The Titanic had a band."
Is it just me or does it feel like the world is coming to an end??! And I mean like in 2 weeks... The whole world has gone crazy and it's like living on top of a house of cards. Ordinarily I'm the happiest of the week on a Friday night, but not tonight. After this whole 'debt debacle,' it's hard to get excited about the future. And of course tonight, for the first time in American history, our S&P credit rating was reduced. When I talk to anyone with a job, they're just thankful they have one. I heard on the radio today that 42% of Americans are not working. At all. How will we continue? It feels like the Titanic. We've hit the iceberg. We're taking water. Everyone knows something is really wrong, but thinks surely we won't sink. The Titanic is like the United States - too big to fail. Or are we? It's just a matter of time when things will go quickly and poof. Then we're all out in the cold ice water. Hoping we're part of the 2% that gets rescued. Meanwhile our president is partying like it's 1998. He's going to be on the first lifeboat out - the one that conveniently leaves without even filling it up. He'll make sure he and his family are okay. He has no clue what's going to happen. Nor does he seem to care. How could anyone with any decency at all go out and party like he has when so much damage to the USA has been done the past few weeks?! Everyone keeps saying he's really stupid or really evil, but either way he's not the one that should be captain of this ship. And if we're talking about stupid, then he could hire smart people to do his work for him. That leaves the other alternative - is he trying to sink this ship?

"Hopelessly devoted to you..."
In our small town, all the kids hang out at an ice cream/sandwich place on Main Street. They all meet up there after school, and pretty much all the time. It's the center of town and a great meeting place. It's a happy place decorated in a very loud interpretation of 1950's decor with lots of Elvis stuff. Behind the counter is a flatscreen TV that has "Grease" playing back to back on a loop that never stops, so I've sat in those old-fashioned booths and watched it play for ever and ever. So it is with sadness, that I report that the second actor from "Grease" died this week - Cha Cha (Annette Charles.) As you probably know (and were not shocked at learning) that Jeff Conaway (Kenickie) recently died of an overdose. He had been on Celebrity Rehab a few years ago? and it wasn't looking too good for him.

"The boy who cried 'Wolf'!"
I'm trying to put myself in the president's place - if I'm having a birthday, turning 50 no less, would I really have coast-to-coast party/fundraisers after the country was TEETERING ON COLLAPSE?? I mean come on!! I know the Democrats have zero class but that is RIDICULOUS! Is it really time to party??! After all of the bickering of the blithering idiots, and going down to the 11th hour - no, make that the 11:59 hour - and then sign the thing (raising of debt ceiling) and then head off to parties?? Totally disgusting.

"Life isn't fair..."
The last 2 days DD had volleyball tryouts for her high school freshman team. You know, where the fat man coach with his beer gut, and his Sonic food, keeps yelling at them for 6 hours a day (and I'm not exaggerating) until they collapse, which DD did by the way. She had an episode which has happened twice this summer, first the "conditioning" the coaches said they must do, which was really the football workout with the football players and then yesterday, where she collapsed and could not breathe. At all. And instead of helping her, they just kept yelling to shake it off. Idiots. She wasn't faking. She literally could not breathe for 10 minutes. It sounded like the exercise asthma.
