Anthony Maschek, 28, is an Idaho native who miraculously survived a firefight in Iraq in February 2008. In the hail of gunfire, he broke both legs and suffered wounds to his abdomen, arms and chest after being shot 11 times. He was awarded the high honor of the Purple Heart. He spent the last 2 years at Walter Reed recovering from these wounds. Currently he is a freshman at Columbia University studying economics.
Last week the university had a townhall meeting on whether the ROTC should be allowed back on campus. Anthony spoke and made an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military and said, "It doesn't matter how you feel about the war. It doesn't matter how you feel about fighting. There are bad men out there plotting to kill you." Their response? The students heckled this war hero, and hissed and booed him. Several laughed and jeered and some yelled, "Racist."
Well, listen you bunch of punks.... You bunch of elitist Ivy League snobs... This brave young man, (and your fellow student) was fighting for YOUR freedom, YOUR freedom of speech, and even YOUR freedom to sin. You had better thank God we have brave men and women willing to fight - at least for now - for YOUR freedom!! Because if they were all like you,
God help us....
