"62% of kids who enter college with some sort of faith commitment leave without it." - Rick Santorum

Rick Santorum (who by the way, TIED Romney in Michigan for delegates) speaks the truth, and Big Media is all over him for doing so. This past week in an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos he said, "President Obama said he wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob! There are good, decent men and women who go out and work hard every day and put their skills to the test that aren't taught by some liberal college professor trying to indoctrinate them. 62 percent of kids who enter college with some sort of faith commitment leave without it." He went on to say that most conservative kids who go to college are singled out, ridiculed and docked for their conservative views. I say, "Right on, Rick!!" This is absolutely correct, and anyone who says different is kidding themselves.

As I've mentioned before, when I was at the University of Texas in Austin, this happened to me personally. I had the goal of becoming a newspaper reporter, but my professor kept embarressing me in class and telling me that sorority girls like me would never get hired, and that I should switch to public relations (in the most disdainful tone he could muster.) I realized then, that it's a "club" and they only hire like-minded people in Big Media type jobs. Liberal snobs always get into education to indoctrinate young people to their beliefs and shame them if they don't comply. In high school I had a teacher that said we were going to have a debate about whether abortion should be legalized, and those that were for it should go on one side of the classroom with him, and those opposed, to the other side. I was the ONLY one on the other side, and I had a huge high school... But my convictions have always run deep, more so than my parents or siblings too.
And regarding the whole college thing, in retrospect I wish I would have sent my grown son to a tech school for a trade, as his college education doesn't seem to be worth the paper it's printed on. He's in Austin where there are tons of people with advanced degrees waiting tables and selling shoes. Degrees are a dime a dozen, but I digress. Santorum is dead on correct, and is really brave to tell it like it is rather than talking out of both sides of his mouth like Clinton used to do. He's a stand-up man who is humble and honorable. I wish that Gingrich, who only got a very small percentage of votes in yesterday's primaries, would drop out of the presidential race so Santorum can surpass Romney. And I wish Ron Paul would just shut up and retire. I mean the guy IS 76 years old. And if he desires, he can be on the speaker circuit.
I hear there's big money in that...

"Children are a gift from the Lord..."

Okay, to be honest, I DO feel guilty about my shallow Fashion Police yesterday when all of these important stories are out there... but we do need comic relief every now and then don't we??

Today the story that's trending (and even with my Facebook friends) is the article about the two "ethicists" working with Australian universities who are arguing that if abortion of a fetus is allowable, so should the termination of a newborn. Their argument is that "both a fetus and a newborn are human beings but neither is a 'person' in the sense of 'subject of a moral right to life." They cite incidents of Downs Syndrome as a reason someone might have an after-birth abortion or if the family could be socially, economically or psychologically burdened or damaged by the newborn....
I knew this was coming. We were warned about this in the 70's when abortion was legalized. Many said that the future argument would be just what these two men are saying - that murdering a child could be justified in certain cases...
This is disturbing in so many ways... and I'm sure you're first thought is the same as mine. If the child is birthed, why not let it be given up for adoption? Which is another thing I don't understand about "partial-birth abortion" (also infanticide.) Why kill the child when it's being born?? Although abortion is murder and thus wrong in every case, it is easier to understand that many women opt for the convenience of abortion in early pregnancy because they don't want to be burdened or embarressed. (Unfortunately I have several friends who did this, and have regretted it their entire lives.) But how is it even fathomable that they would go through the entire nine months, and watch their own flesh and blood be born, (or partially born) and then murder the child?? For convenience???? This is beyond amoral. This is demonic.
I can't even believe it has made the top news stories of the day...

2012 Oscars Fashion Police - Live Texting

Alex and me......
Well, here it is... living proof at how catty I can really be. Actually when I read it back, I sound soooo judgmental, but hey, I'm a girl and we can get that way!! Here are my texts with my grown daughter Alex (who is due with her 1st child VERY soon)

Me: Ready??!
Alex: Yes ma'am
Me: I love Juliana's dress
Alex: Guiliana Rancic's dress is gorgeous!!
Me: Very Hollywood, very Oscars
Alex: I love the detail
Me: It looks like palm trees on the sleeves
Me: I still hate Kelly Preston's hair, I mean Kelly what's-her-face's hair
Alex: Kelly Osborn. And her hair is sooooo bad.
Me: Did you see The Descendants? This little girl was on that movie
Alex: No, not yet but I will when it's rentable
Me: Yeah, it's really good. This girls's dress actually is not very age appropriate
Alex: Young kids actors rarely are
Me: So true
Me: I'm not sure I like this dress on Penelope; it looks pretty cheapy
Alex: No, it seems ill-fitting
Me: Bad hair and makeup too
Alex: Yes, cheap looking
Me: She was so much cuter when she was younger...
Alex: Long interview
Me: Totally
Alex: Seacrest cut her off
Me: Haha yeah, slow start; we call this "filler"
Alex: Nobody cares E. We just want to see the dresses
Me: LOL, who's that new young guy (host) he looks like he could be your next door neighbor, seems pretty green around the edges
Alex: Ben Lyons. He is their official movie reviewer. His dad was a reviewer and Ben rides the coat tails
Me: Oh, I get it. Nepotism. He seemed a little too much. Like "what's up G?" to Guiliana
Alex: Goober
Me: I guess none of the stars are getting there early. They were reduced to trying and guess who would be best dressed. They think it will be Jennifer Lopez. My guess is that she will have her hair up and she'll have a slit in her dress all the way up to her thigh.
Alex: I'm over Jennifer Lopez. She clearly has low self-esteem and can't be alone so she dates dancers after every big breakup
Me: Yeah, it's pretty disgusting when a 42 year old female dates a 26 year old guy

Alex: Love the color of this Missy gals dress but again it's a little cheap looking
Me: Oooo, I do like the dress on Milla Jojovich, very Hollywood, very Oscars
Alex: It's very, very pretty
Me: It almost looks 1920s. Is she in The Artist? Oh yeah, she is, I guess that's why
Alex: I like how feminine the dresses are so far
Me: Me too, I'm not disappointed so far
Me: She has such pretty eyes
Alex: Milla looks fabulous
Me: Nice. Skinny.
ALEX'S PICK FOR BEST DRESSED OF THE EVENING

Me: It would be fun to be there but embarressing too
Alex: How so?
Me: To be in the stands with all the other schmo's
Alex: Exactly. I would want to go to an after party
Me: Me too! That's the fun part.
Alex: Really? Wolfgang? Filler...
Me: Yeah, this is slooooooooooooow. It's like 2:00 o'clock in Cali
Alex: Kelly O's hair is just angering me.
Me: Oops, they're saying they're seeing a lot of black

Me: Rose Byrne is such a beautiful girl and all she can wear is black
Alex: Rose is in black. Boring. And she's too thin.
Me: And that other girl (from Bridesmaids) has a nude color on with strapless and she looks naked.
Me: Prom ish
Alex: Yes, it's too monochromatic
Me: Yes, that's the best way to say it
Me: I don't know this girl's name but she looks pretty with the auburn hair in the auburn color
Alex: This red head matched her hair to her dress
Alex: But it's a good look
Me: She seems very un-Hollywood
Alex: She's on The Office
Me: This foreign redhead is very strange
Alex: Her dress has almost too much detail
Me: I agree
Me: Her dress is okay but the hair is YACK
Alex: Yes, I don't like the braids
Me: it was too severe for her, like she had just had a perm but didn't brush it out
Alex: I think you have to be young to pull off braids and even then it's probably not a good idea
Me: So true
Me: Some we'll be on E
Alex: And looking fabulous
Me: The stars should start rolling in now

Me: Oh Stacy Kiebler's dress looks very similar to Angelina's dress in Paris
Alex: Clooney's girlfriend looks so 80's
Me: With a big flower out of fabric
Me: Stacy Keibler looks cute, it is kind of 80s but I like it
Alex: Stacey's hair is fun, love off the shoulder, hate the flower thing
Me: DD says it only looks good on her
Me: The flower thing is very vogue right now
Alex: Melissa McCarthy's hair looks good but the dress color is yuck
Me: Yes, terrible color
Me: But it's nice to put the jewel focus around her neck
Alex: I agree
Me: Jane Seymour does defy age and looks 35
Me: Too much red on the red carpet though
Me: Jessica Chastain is my favorite so far!
Alex: Jessica Chastain seems to have a cute personality
Me: Yes, what a cutie
Me: Still very humble
Alex: Cutie and refreshingly fun
Me: Yes!
MY PICK FOR BEST DRESSED OF THE EVENING
Me: Shaylene looks very late 1960's or early 1970's
Me: Looks like the cover of Seventeen Magazine in 1970
Alex: Shaylene looks matronly almost
Me: I agree
Me: What do you think about Judy Greer's dress?
Alex: Black and gold seems to be trendy this evening
Me: I was just thinking the same thing
Alex: I like that it's different but it's not my taste
Me: Why don't the stylists tell them to keep away from black?
Me: Michelle Williams is okay; I give it a 7 out of 10
Me: Some blondes don't look good in red
Alex: Michelle Williams and Busy Phillips looked pretty but I need to see a closer shot
Alex: She looks very demure. Her dress would be better in another color I think. But pretty.
Me: Now that I see her dress up close it looks very vintage
Alex: Her dress does look vintage. But a modern twist with the color. I like it I suppose.
Alex: She pulls off the pixie cut
Me: yes, only a tiny face can
Me: More filler
Alex: Filler...
Me: Oy vey
Me: Love Viola's dress; hate her new red hair
Alex: I didn't recognize Viola
Me: Green is GOOD
Alex: Love the green but it's a lot of cleavage
Me: Glenn Close is in boring black but she is getting old...
Me: She looks like she has on a woman's tuxedo
Alex: Glenn looks good. I kinda like the tux jacket
Me: Yeah, I wouldn't like it for me but I guess it's okay on her
Alex: Right
Me: Plus it's black. Ugh
Alex: And it had a train so it's a little much
Me: Train wreck - haha
Me: Octavia has not disappointed us
Alex: Octavia just looks so classic and lovely
Me: True
Me: Good for Octavia, she looks good
Alex: Octavia is just knocking it out of the park
Me: Yes she's got great taste
Me: I can't think of this girl's name but wow she is superthin in that navy dress
Me: Rooney Mara looks very art deco - 1920s... or 30s
Alex: AJ said Rooney looks like a vampire slut
Me: Hmmm, I kinda liked it. She's got a striking unique look. I just love 1930s style
Alex: I think she looks a hellava lot better than usual
Me: Very Harlowe
Me: She looks like she's a Paris fashion model
Alex: She is emaciated
Me: Totally
Me: WRONG choice for Maya. Wrong color. Strange. Doesn't go with her hair at all. It might look good on someone with black hair
Alex: It's a little safe but I like it. I love Maya though
Alex: Maya's dress just didn't wow me
Me: Yes, coulda done SO much better
Me: OMG Kristin Wiig in nude AGAIN??? Ugh.
Alex: Kristen is so disappointing. It's beige. Yuck.
Me: Yes YACK. And she needs to be blonde
Alex: Who wears beige??
Me: I know!!!?
ALEX'S PICK FOR WORST DRESSED OF THE EVENING
Me: Sasha Cohen is such a freak
Alex: He is so attention seeking. It's annoying
Me: Sasha sux
Alex: Poor Ryan
Me: OMG POOR RYAN. HE'S PISSED
Alex: That is so sad. Sasha is a d--k
Me: WHAT A JACKASS TO RUIN HIS TUX
Me: A-- hole
Alex: Sooooo rude, I'm shocked
Me: It's all anyone will mention so it will get that attention he seeks - crap
Me: He's married to Isla Fisher
Alex: She can do better
Alex: Is that a new suit
Me: idk, hopefully
Me: Although Melanie Griffith is in black she still looks really good
Alex: She does, you are right
Me: Tina Fey in black... How original. Still love her tho
Alex: Tina, Tina, Tina. It's like a bad rerun.
Me: Tina should at least wear a lot more jewelry
Alex: Why won't Tina wear color?????? WHY?
Alex: Every red carpet she looks like she's going to a fancy funeral
Me: Haha true
Me: Even the E gals just said that
Me: J lo looks like usual. She does better on American Idol. DD agrees. DD digs her bun.
Alex: It's a cool dress but it's been done
Me: Totally. I expected her to take more of a risk
Alex: Me too
Alex: She looks glamorous though
Me: Always
Me: Emma Stone looks rather pretty
Alex: Haven't seen it
Me: Very bright red with one shoulder
Alex: Emma looks great in that color but I hate the neck bow
Me: I like her in either emerald green or some kind of black
Alex: Emma disappointed me
Me: Agree
Alex: I think the presenters will have better dresses
Me: You're probably right
Alex: Is the red carpet over?
Me: I don't think so, maybe they are regrouping. We haven't seen Angelina Jolie yet
Me: Let's switch to ABC because they have a red carpet live right now
Alex: Ok
Alex: ABC is in high def which is awesome
Me: Yay!!
Alex: Nick Nolte is making me cringe
Me: Scary
Me: Penelope Cruz is not disappointing me. Very stunning. DD loves it too
Alex: Her hair is frumpy. Not crazy about the dress. Great necklace though
Me: She looks very classy. She doesn't look as sexy Latina as usual
Alex: It's classy but plain and no wow factor
Me: You wanted lavender
Me: Cameron Diaz looks hot
Alex: I like it. it's a little snoring.
Me: Agree.
Me: Bradley Cooper with a stach???
Alex: It's your dream come true!!
Me: Lol true
Me: Gweneth is snore
Alex: Gwyn's hair is odd. Dress is SO simple.
Me: It looks very oddddddd, Hair is bore
Alex: VERY odd
Me: Disappointing
Me: ABC said this is the only place you'll see the red carpet so they must've kicked E off
Alex: I think you're right
Me: Contractual?
Me: Sandra Bullock looks terrible. YACK!!! DD says it's not that bad. I don't think it's dressy enough. Although she is adorable
Alex: It's matronly. Where's the glamour and feminity?
Me: Oh the back of Sandra's dress was really low and pretty
Me: They just showed Angelina Jolie who looks like she weighs 75 pounds and is in a very boring black dress. Ugh. It had a slit - whoopee
MY WORST DRESSED OF THE EVENING. This dress just screams, "Give me my Oscar so we can be twins!!"
Me: Pretty sad when the interview hostess looks better than most of the attendees...
Me: Gosh, the red carpet kind of sucked this year... the Golden Globes is always my favorite anyway
Alex: The Oscars have just been so disappointing the last few years. Last year's hosts were SO bad but Billy Crystal is so predictable. Sigh

After having a day to let it all sink in, I miss the days when the Oscars were classier - when there was more civility. But Billy Crystal did much better than Ann Hathaway and James Franco last year. And there weren't too many surprises except when Meryl Streep won, I was one of the people she mentioned that was saying, "Oh no, not her..." I was pulling for "The Help's" Viola Davis.
I'd say I'd rate this year's Oscars a 7 out of 10.
See you next time...

"Practice random acts of kindness..."

Tonight what moves me is Taylor Swift. Seems the 22-year-old Country music star has asked an 18-year-old cancer sufferer, Kevin McGuire, to be her date to this year's American Country Music Awards. McGuire had asked Swift to be his prom date and she responded that she could not make it to the prom, but asked if he would be her date instead for the award show.

Taylor Swift is one of the very few current stars that is a good role model for DD and teenagers everywhere. With the likes of Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, and even Katy Perry, it leaves only a handful of young women for them to look up to. Recent Disney star Miley Cyrus comes to mind as THE girl all pre-teens were emulating until very recently when she went completely off the rails to become the Hollywood train wreck cliche like Lindsay Lohan. The only other two decent role models that even come to my mind are Carrie Underwood and Hillary Duff. (There might be one or two more, but I would have to search for awhile.)
In the mean time, kudos to Taylor Swift for always taking the high road and understanding that people are watching, specifically 15-year-olds like DD and her friends.
God bless you Taylor...

Freaky Fridays

Usually on a Friday, I try to keep it "lite" - you know, Freaky Fridays. TGIF. Let the Good Times Roll. And DD and I did see a cute movie tonight, "This Means War" with Reese Witherspoon, which was a fun Friday movie, but I always write on what moves me, and today what's moving me is Jeb Bush. The article reads that Jeb Bush is saying that it is "troubling that the current slate of Republican presidential candidates are playing to people's fears." EXCUSE ME?!? He doesn't understand how important this election really is??!! He doesn't get it that if Obama wins the next election, we can say goodbye to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave??? Jeb Bush said, "I used to be a conservative, and I watch these debates and... I don't think I've changed. But it's a little troubling sometimes when people are appealing to people's fears and emotion, rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective, and that's kind of where we are." Say what?? This coming from a long line of moderate Republicans who weren't much different from the Clinton kind of Democrats, fiscally speaking. Jeb is not what I'd call a true conservative. And the last people who should be speaking up right now in the campaign, is anyone with the last name of Bush. The liberals are still blaming his brother, and although they shouldn't be after 3 years, they are. So, if he's intimating that he might jump in this summer to save us, do us a favor, and be quiet. This country is in a real struggle between good and evil, and moderates like Jeb will only hurt us at this 'juncture,' (as his father used to say, along with lines like, 'Read my lips, no new taxes,' and later raising taxes.) These candidates are not making up how bad things are, if anything, they are sparing us the ugly truth. Life for many Americans has gotten very difficult, but maybe Jeb just doesn't know that because he's too far removed. We don't need another Bush leading this nation, not now and not later. And they certainly don't need to be saying things like this, that will only give ammo to the Dems later this year. As you might recall, Nancy Pelosi said there wasn't a big difference between the old politicians, whether Republican or Democrat.

Uh huh, that's what we're trying to change...

"The name is Bond... James Bond"

Hmmm... this renders me speechless... Evidently Google is going to introduce this technology of futuristic glasses with all of the services of a smartphone. Users can surf the internet, receive text messages and emails, and all with the tilt of their head. The mouse is moved by tilting your head, and there is a built-in microphone as well. They have a front-facing camera used to "gather information and could aid in augmented reality apps."

Wow. And I was worried about DD learning to drive with friends that text...

"There's no place like home..."

"Effective leadership is putting first things first."

You know what I like about Rick Santorum? Sanity. He brings back sanity to this country. Every day you see and hear and read about craziness, and it's becoming unbearable. Craziness in every sector. And it's so refreshing to hear someone who actually makes sense. You know, like reading the bill before you vote for it.

I just read about several parents who are raising their adopted children as the opposite sex. Some are even changing their child's sex while they are young. Why, in God's name, would we allow this? This is child abuse in my view. It's THAT kind of craziness that I'm talking about...
THIS is why we hold our presidential candidate to a higher standard. The other day my ninth grader told me that she uses me as the benchmark - if I do it, it becomes okay for her to do it. A lightbulb went off in my head that it's the same for American citizens. We use our president as a benchmark - so what they do becomes okay to us. Do you get it? This is one of the reasons why it is so important to get an honorable person for this position. That, and they (at least currently) are the leader of the free world.
The only candidate that makes my gut say "aaahhh" is Santorum. He is so straightforward and honest. No spinning necessary for his staff - he says what he means and means what he says. No flip-flopping like Romney. No vengeful antics like Gingrich. Just a really good, smart, decent man. Some say the president can only do so much since Congress is much of the rest of it. Well, tell that to our current president who is overriding the constitution and doing whatever the heck he wants. Too, the president is also the figure-head for our country, and does set the tone. I'm praying for Rick Santorum to win. Because I want what's best for this country and in fact the entire planet.
So help me God...

"Do what I say and not what I do..."

Remember when the Prez said, "If you're trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, or you might put off a vacation." Yeah, that was just for all the peasants... but for royalty? It's a completely different story.

Yes, the king's wife and kids are on yet another vacation, this time to the elitist Aspen. But it HAS been a month since their return from the extremely expensive Hawaiian Christmas vacation, so it is COMPLETELY understandable.
They did travel without their dad this trip, so today Michelle tweeted, "Happy President's Day," declaring her husband "her personal favorite." The vacation (the 16th since her husband took office) came despite previous criticisms over the family's extravagant vacations, including Martha's Vineyard last summer.
This is getting old...

"It takes a village..."

Reports today said that more than half of births to American women younger than 30 are outside marriage. How very sad that children today have to deal with this... As a single mother myself, I know from personal experience how hard it is to raise a child with only one adult at home. And yes, there are many wonderful people along the way that are helpful, but it never makes up for the fact that the ideal situation is two loving parents at home, hopefully with the commitment of marriage.

The article I read said "The collapse of the family," but I add that it's the collapse of morals that is creating the collapse of the family. This next presidential election is highlighting the obvious - that there are those who believe that morals are important and those that don't... And it's not just between conservatives and liberals, it's also within the Republican party. There is a division in the party on social issues and it's being played out right before our eyes and ears. It's important dialogue because it will determine how this country goes forward.
Choose wisely...

"Work out your salvation with fear and trembling." - Phillippians 2:13

I only caught the part of Whitney Houston's funeral today when Kevin Costner was speaking. But I've now seen a few clips and read a few transcripts from the 3 1/2 hour church service at her childhood Baptist church. There are tons of angles I could talk about, but the question I've heard asked for the last week is, "Where is Whitney Houston now?" in regard to eternity. Her church believes in the "once saved, always saved" idea, so they talked about how there were many times in her life when she gave all to God, and were evasive that it was probably the mixture of drugs and alcohol that ended her life much too early. It was apparent to us all that God gave a huge gift to Whitney with "The Voice," as we've heard all week, along with attractive looks, charismatic personality, and a very supportive family. All agreed she was a nice person, but nice doesn't get you to heaven. I've always heard the line, "there are lots of nice people in hell." The same question was asked about Elvis Presley when he died too, as he was also very spiritual and generous, but died after taking too many prescription pills.

And none of us really know where she is right now, only God does. And maybe in His mercy, He took Whitney to heaven. My previous pastor who is now in his late 70's grew up in the Baptist faith and said when he was young, that Baptists did not embrace the "once saved, always saved" theology. He said he remembered when they changed to the idea that if you ever confessed Jesus in your life, then that sufficed. But it goes against God's just ways. He's a just God and He's a fair God. My pastor told me that once the Baptists changed their beliefs, so did their congregation's actions. If you believe once you're in, you're in, then you will live like hell.
"For I, the Lord, do not change..." Malachi 3:6
In the Old Testament in Ezekiel33:18 it says, "When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity (sin), then he shall DIE in it. (that means hell)
But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and practices justice and righteousness, he will LIVE by them."
And in Ezekiel 33:11 it says, "I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live."
In Ezekiel 18 it says, "The souls who sin will die," and goes on to say that you cannot get to heaven on your parent's salvation, that each person is responsible for themselves.
In the New Testament, in Matthew 10:22 it says, "but it is the one who has ENDURED to the end who will be saved." (This seems the opposite of being saved at some point and then turning your back on God. He wants us to ENDURE to the end.)
It says in Matthew 19: 16 - 17, "And behold, one came to Him (Jesus) and said, 'Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?' And He said to him, 'Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS." (God makes covenants; you do your part and He will do His.)
It says in Mark 9:43, "And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire." (Again, the inference is stumbling can send you to hell.)
In Mark 13:13 it says, "And you will be hated by all on account of My name, but it is the one who has ENDURED to the end who will be saved." (It's not easy; it's not greasy grace.)
In Mark 16, Jesus tells them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel (good news that He saves) to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved, but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. And these SIGNS will accompany those who have believed, in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues, they will pick up serpents, if they drink any deadly poison it shall not hurt them, and they will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover." (So you can see, there are actions when people believe. So if they are truly saved, there will be actions showing they are saved. You cannot be a Christian in name only with God. Beliefs have evidence.)
In Timothy 4:16, it says, "Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; PERSEVERE in these things; for as you DO THIS you will insure SALVATION both for yourself and those who hear you." (Once again, there is no greasy grace here, you have to be careful.)
In Hebrews 3:6 it says, "but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house whose house we are, IF we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope FIRM until the end."
Hebrews 3:11-14 says after talking about disobedient people, "They shall not enter My rest. Take care brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called Today, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ, IF we hold fast the beginning of our assurance FIRM until the end."
And later in verses 18&19, "And to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest, but to those who were DISOBEDIENT? And so we see that they were not able to enter because of UNBELIEF. Therefore, let us fear lest, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.
Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall throught following the same example of disobedience.
Hebrews 5:9 - "and having been made perfect, He became to all those who OBEY him, the source of eternal salvation."
I think you get the idea. It's simple but it's not easy. Salvation is a gift, we do not earn it. But we do have to keep His commandments to "enter His rest." We have to obey Him. We can't just make a profession some time in our lives and then live like hell. God is a just God. It wouldn't be fair to the ones that have obeyed. God is merciful. It says he desires that no one go to hell. But there are 3 votes. The devil has voted for hell, God has voted for heaven, and you have the deciding vote. You have to keep His commandments. And I don't think people gain and lose their salvation all day long. I think it's that He meant not to turn your back on God.
Anyway.
