WTFriday

Is it just me or do all the storms lately seem apocalyptic?? My own car is still at the body shop for extensive hail damage, and the Mid-Plains continue to get hammered by freakishly large storms with multiple tornadoes. The Bible does mention in the last days that weather events will cause us to pause.
Today was the last day of school - finally. (Sigh) It's been a year of high drama, but then I guess that's par for the course in high school these days, not to mention my daughter being a cheerleader and dance team member. Lots of competition. Lots of crying. Lots of mean girls. Lots of crying. It's always a nice break in the summer to get away from the daily grind at school. If only social media had not been invented... then it would be a REAL break.
Here are my retweets today and comments:
1. Over 3,500 caretakers for wounded warriors at Walter Reed receive furlough notices... Yeah, it seems this prez and administration are trying to systematically dismantle and ruin our military. It makes me nauseous.
2. Feds suggest anti-Muslim speech can be punished... Really? What about anti-Christian speech??? What about FREEDOM OF SPEECH??? This nation still has a majority of citizens who call themselves Christians. WTF?????
3. The drawdown diet: Marines steamed by loss of hot meal at Afghanistan base... This goes along with a story I read earlier this week, that at one base they only have torn, old sheets where they operate on soldiers, so a woman in Virginia has been sending new sheets... WTF???
4. Boy, suspended for gun-shaped Pop-Tart, gets lifetime NRA membership.... Finally, some good news
5. Obama to spend $700 Million in US Tax Dollars for Russian Helicopters for Afghan Air Force.... Uhhhh, so many things here. The amount of money. Who it's for. Why are we buying from Russia instead of the US. WTF????
6. Overreach? 81,000 Rules Issued by Feds in 2012.... WTF???
7. John Kerry to prop up Palestinians with $4 Billion of US Taxpayer Money... Again, they just use our money like it's Monopoly money in a game
Beam me up, Scotty...

"God Himself could not sink this ship..." - Titanic captain, Edward J. Smith

Tomorrow is the last day of school for my high schooler. She only has two more years, and then even my baby is "leaving the nest." I'm trying to mentally prepare for it, since I know that life will never be the same once my last child is not living with me, but I guess it's impossible to totally prepare....
I find myself a little down lately, and can't really pinpoint why. I suppose it's a combination of things but I am trying to be thankful for what I have. And I believe God when He says, "For my God shall supply ALL your needs, according to His riches, in glory, by Christ Jesus." I've been saying this one a lot lately.
As an advertising rep on straight commission, sales are trending down each year, yet I'm working harder than I ever have. Most of my accounts say, "I really like you but..." and then give the reason why they can't advertise. This, then, makes my boss come down even harder on me, and I feel like the proverbial horse that is being kicked while it's down. My ex-husband is looking for a job, and with little money in the bank, will probably have to sell his house asap. My older daughter and family are moving to San Antonio for a better job, and my son is underemployed but his new wife works for the government, so her job has lots of benefits.
And then there's DD... just turned 16... will drive soon... that's scary. With everyone texting and driving these days, it's a different day when you turn them loose on the roads now. And since I'm making less money, we will have to move to a house with lower rent, which is also a bummer. I know, I know. I've got to be thankful for what I have. It's just that we seem to be going in the wrong direction.
How does anybody make it any more?? And if you read the news at all, you know that we really have already lost the nation - it's just most people don't know it yet. I mean, I live in Texas, and we seem to have it better than most states, but if THIS is the best?? I can't even imagine what the other states are dealing with. Americans are moving to Texas at break-neck speed, but are probably finding that we don't have jobs here either. Our state is like California in the 70's, and growing faster than we can keep up with. Rent houses are going in one day (and for a high amount), and in our cities, homes for sale are in bidding wars since inventory is low. That may be good for some, but overall, it's bad for most of us. Yes, you can sell your house, but then where are you going to go? The rents are higher than what your house payment was. And that's if you have a job.
With Obamacare coming, and the IRS enforcing it? Then what? And America keeps distracting themselves. It's like we're the Titanic and we've hit the iceberg. Everyone is aware that things are bad, but most don't want to believe that we are going down.
And the band plays on...

See you in September...

Last week of school. DD has end-of-the-year parties every night this week. Tonight was her dance team's swim party.
Only one more week of drama, and then hopefully we will have some peace...

Ciao...

Just a quick post to say that the gynormous hail storm the other night did $7,228 worth of damage to my Honda. Now that it's in the body shop (for 30 full days) I had a rental car on my policy - the first day, Enterprise gave me a huge new Dodge Journey. YACK. It was a gas guzzler & horrid. Yesterday I asked for a car with better gas mileage and they traded me for my dream car (pictured) - a new Fiat. I LOVED everything about it. It was even red, my favorite color. I felt younger, and foreign, and, well, like Jennifer Lopez ( what can I say, she does their ads and I'm a sucker for advertising!) It made my day & driving was a blast all day.
Sigh.
Then they called & said it "needed service." Say what? It only had 3,000 miles... I figured someone more important than me pulled rank, and trumped me. They did get me a brand new Toyota Avalon but all I could think of was the Fiat.
Arrivederci (translated from Italian) "'til we meet again..."

"Go Away Little Girl.... - song by The Lettermen

Thank God school is out at the end of next week.... It's been a school year of non-stop drama in DD's high school, and I'm ready for a break. Of course, due to social media, everyone still keeps tabs on each other in a way that they could not B.M. (get it? like B.C. - Before Christ - but it's B.M.- Before Media.)  A little side note on that - I didn't even know that public schools no longer use B.C. because it's way to religious to recognize Christ, so they have some new term that is so ridiculous, I've refused to remember it or use it.
But I digress...
DD's boyfriend broke up with her six months ago, but she had a very hard time with it all, for lots of reasons. Not only was he her first love, but they had (and still do) a lot of the same friends in our small town and one high school town and too, the little hussy that "stole" him, was representative of lots of high school aged girls these days. They are uber aggressive, and violently pursue the guys, and beg the guys to have sex with them. Many boys do and DD has to hear about it all day, every day. And then there are the boys who are trying very hard not to be "man hoes." There are those guys (and DD's friends are included in this group) who tell the girls upfront that they are waiting to have sex, and if they  don't like it, then they should move on.
Sound familiar any Baby Boomers out there? Because it's all backwards - it was the GIRLS who used to say that sort of thing when I was in high school. It  was all about saving your reputation back then. I've asked DD why the girls are so aggressive. She says it's the only way to get a guy, and that the girls who have boyfriends, are instantly "popular." (Ah yes, the magic word in high school.) And they will stop at nothing to achieve this status.
Too, it falls in line with what we're hearing about college and twenty-something kids, that they are having random sex in uncommitted relationships - called "hooking up." And I guess they are learning it from Hollywood movies like "friends with benefits" and current songs, like 99% of rap. Try listening to the words of ANY current rap song. Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. And they are getting worse. Even the song from last year about "blowing his whistle" sounds naive compared to what's out this year.
Did anyone see the Billboard Music Awards this week?!? It  was disgusting. I left the room, and didn't return until the last 15 minutes, when (nasty) Nicki Minaj (who I heard gave herself the name from Menage a trois) did a really foul gyrating lap dance with her gynormous butt towards the camera, and straddling Lil Wayne, the completely nasty rapper. Ugh.
We need a moratorium on ALL media...

"Winning through intimidation...."

Does it bother anybody else that the government sent the Department of Homeland Security to the multiple Tea Party gatherings to protest the IRS today??? You know, we're not talking about jihadists who believe in killing the infidel. Or the Black Panthers, who promote violence against whites. Or gang members, who also commit violence and murder. No.... we're talking about normal Americans who are tired of watching their country being sold down the river. Who have decided to create a political group to get together with and promote their beliefs, which by the way, is still legal in this country and is part of the freedom process in a democratic society.
But this group of liberals in power believes in intimidation, much the same as any other dictator-lead country does. They send the DHS, a government-created group that was supposed to fight terrorists from abroad after 9-11-2001 happened. And they are beefing up the IRS to run Obamacare, and starting their intimidation to keep average Americans afraid to join the Tea Party in fear of retribution. In fear of getting audited. In fear of going to jail. In fear of donating and getting on "the list." The definition of terrorist is one who uses fear and intimidation to manipulate an end result.
Who's the terrorist now??

Umbrella - ella - ella

"A Few Good Men..."

The more I think about the prez making a Marine hold his umbrella, the angrier I am....
He could have gotten any White House lackey to hold his stupid umbrella, but he picks a United State Marine?? This just really irks me, and evidently has irked other Americans too. Our Marines are some of our best and brightest... you know, they're looking for "a few good men."
When Johnny is a young boy and dreams of being a Marine, he's wanting to be a hero - a good guy - fighting the good fight. Not holding the prez's umbrella like a butler...
I don't know... I think it even goes deeper than what it looked like. The prez has no respect for the military. He was never in the Armed Forces, and is ill-equipped to be Commander-in-Chief.
Just saying....

Says what He means and means what He says...

It's always soooo busy at the end of the school year, but I did want to briefly post about the story this week that U.S. government forms like FAFSA no longer have "mother" and "father" on them, but parent 1 and parent 2. This, we are told, is for the gay parents.... So I guess it's like ALL political correctness; we don't want to offend the small minority.
Sigh.
This just infuriates me. It's the "little" things like this that add up to a really messed up society. When I grew up, mother and father were a "given." And yes, if a child did not have both parents, we were sad for them, but in my wildest imagination, I would never have thought that we would remove "mother" and "father."
This reminds me of some of the new Bibles, where publishers are changing the male reference of "he" to a new term of both sexes. And I've even read that some translations want to refer to God as a she. This rewriting of things is so frustrating, and changes the meaning. Which I guess is exactly what these people want to do.
I've read in the past, that the Old Testament was to be translated exactly word for word. Words count with God -- He says what He means and He means what He says. He doesn't want it changed "by one letter" (as it says in His word) and He doesn't want the definition of marriage changed from what He meant it to be and has been like for thousands and thousands of years. Our ancestry passes through families with mothers and fathers. You know - as you've heard - Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
I also have read in the Bible that God's nature is reflected through a married couple because He created woman out of the rib of a man. So God reflects the qualities of both man and woman together as one.  It's what happens when a man and a woman marry and make love. Their spirits mix. It says it in the Bible. It's why it says for men to not seek  prostitutes - because their spirits will be mixed together forever.
These folks may try to rewrite history, but it doesn't make it so. They may try to change or water down God's Word, but it doesn't make it so. And  they may change the American definition of marriage - but it doesn't make it so.
And now more than ever in the public schoolbooks the NEA is changing history. They can focus on the liberal agenda, and as the mainstream media does, spend massive more time on their pet subjects. Text books are being phased out,  and CSCOPE is being used in schools. It's all online and done at school -- and easy to keep changing and kept from parent's eyes.
It's a wicked world and the bad guys have infiltrated every area of our society.
It's past time to fight back.

I've got good news and bad news...

The good news is... that Gosnell was convicted, even with the majority of the jury considered "pro-choice." I mean, I say it's good news, but he only got convicted of killing three babies when, in actuality, I wonder how many murders of babies he committed? And I mean by God's definition... all of the abortions were murder - so were there thousands? Which brings me to another question I have for very late abortion mothers. Why kill the child then? If you're close to the end or actually giving birth, why?? And the "partial-birth" abortion. Why not birth the child, and let someone else raise it. You can sign away a child, and if you do closed adoption, they can never find you. I guess that's too logical and too moral for these types of women? So they allow their child to be born, and then killed? How about the story from last week, when a woman who aborted (killed) her child, found out much later that her baby's head was still inside of her. Now THAT'S a horror movie...
Other stories in the news are disturbing. I didn't say 'surprising' because I'm not a low-information person. And maybe it's also that there are so many really nauseating stories coming to light at the same time.
As one who has worked in the media all of my career (although in advertising and not journalism) I am appalled that the Justice Department "secretly obtained two months of phone records of reporters and editors for the Associated Press." This is DISGUSTING.  What are we???  a Communist country??? Aren't the Associated Press already in the tank for the liberals anyway??? Were they just making sure???  This should outrage every American!!!
Added to that, we learn that the IRS has been targeting the Tea Party and conservative groups. Again, we all know this sort of thing has gone on for years. I can remember hearing that Bill Clinton's enemies would all get audited and have to lawyer up for tax situations. But this is actually much worse. I read tonight that the IRS was also asking for Tea Party volunteer names and donor names and social media friends. Well, THAT crosses the line even more!! We've all heard that the prez has an enemy list, and I'm sure all Tea Partiers are on it as well. They said they even targeted groups that want to save the constitution. This should scare every American!!
Then there is the story this week out of Bakersfield, California of the SEVEN cops who beat an intoxicated man to death as he begged for his life. The 33 year old man and father of four, was unarmed yet they kept striking his head with their batons. Witnesses that made cell phone videos had them confiscated. Here are more government workers that are above the law. We the people are at the mercy of law enforcement, and when there are bad cops, what can we do???  And then to have all the videos taken??  Evidently one really grainy one remained but is hard to see. ALL of the witnesses say they are haunted by what they saw -- a passed out drunk being beaten to death in front of them. If the man resisted arrest (and this, too, is unclear) why not use a stun gun. Or the Chuck Norris strong hold? But to keep beating the man's head as hard as they could with batons? Witnesses say they could hear the man choking on his own blood. This, too, should outrage all Americans!!
I could go on with the Bad News all night, but I think I'll stop there.
You get the picture...

My children are my most favorite gifts... Motherhood is the most difficult and most gratifying thing most women will do in their lives.

"What difference does it make?"

Well it (Benghazi) makes a HUGE difference, Hillary. But no one is paying attention any more. They've moved on. That was SO eight months ago. At least that's what the current administration is counting on. They know the mainstream media is in their back pocket, and "has their back." And I DO think the American public gets it, if they are paying any attention at all. They know Benghazi was September 11th, they know it was a "terror attack," they know it wasn't a stupid video that absolutely NO one had ever heard of, and they know this was pure politics. And everyone is sick of politics. For the younger generation, this is "the new norm," so they have nothing to compare it to, like we Baby Boomers do. Essentially, the prez and his minions DID NOTHING that night. They let Americans stay under siege with no help, and told the military to "stand down," and went to bed and let people die... And the prez went campaigning in Hawaii the NEXT DAY... Maybe he didn't want to ruin his trip to Hawaii. Maybe he could care less about an ambassador in a foreign country. Maybe his campaign just couldn't have that black eye - not then and not now. Maybe he could care less about our military in general.
And now we have "whistle blowers" - people who want the truth out there, people who have been told to shut up and demoted in the mean time. Good, decent people who were shocked at this administration's calls on this situation. And we even had a congressman say this week, about this, that "death is a part of life." Say what?! It's infuriating.
Meanwhile the American public just wants to obsess about the 'crisis du jour' which at the moment is the three young women who were kidnapped and finally found a decade later. And while it is a big story, the Benghazi story affects us all because we have a keyhole into seeing how this administration thinks. And it becomes painfully obvious that they care nothing about protecting others, but only themselves. There is right and there is wrong, and this is CLEARLY wrong.
If we don't stop this kind of behavior, we have no one to blame but ourselves...

Met Gala 2013: Billed as "Fashion's Biggest Night..."

Yes, there are lots of other depressing things to post about... like the poor girls who were abducted 10 years ago and chained in a basement, and constantly raped... All I can say is - we should not just give them the death penalty. No, that's way too fast. They need to be raped for 10 years...
Sigh.
I'm in a bad mood. I can't seem to get any good news lately. So, how about some fashion from New York's Met Gala this past weekend, where the theme was "Chaos to Couture."
How Hollywood...
Most stars dressed fairly "goth" in black and vampire-ish makeup, so here are a few:

Nicole Ritchie - ummmm, this needs no words...
I would actually want to look good, yet Ginnifer-Goodwin's makeup is scary and unattractive...
Ditto for January Jones...
Following the theme, Sarah Jessica Parker's ensemble is both chaotic and couture - the headress is freak-ish. Mission accomplished.
I'm not digging the blonde hair on Ann Hathaway... kinda scary too...
Jessica Biel's "flair" is in the spider-themed leggings. It seems to be missing something...
Taylor Swift doesn't look much like a country western singer. Kinda scary as well....
Bring back Hannah Montana. Please.
Hmmmm, I guess Elle Fanning can blame this on being a teenager...
And Madonna just looking like any other day...

'Nuff Said

Evidently Honey Boo Boo's mother, Mama June, married Sugar Bear in Georgia...
I've never watched the show they are on (I think it's Toddlers and Tiaras??)
Anyway.
These people are not joking. This is a real wedding.
I'm speechless...
