"Swing batter batter, SWING..."

Okay... As Paul Ryan said last night, "We can DO this." The most important election in my lifetime is in 68 days. We will blink and it will be here. We've got 68 days to convince these swing voters that our guys are the best for the job.
Sigh. That even SOUNDS silly when I read it back. The contrast between the candidates could NOT be stronger. On our side, we have two squeaky clean, smart, giving, church-going men who married their high school sweethearts and have what is known in today's terms as large families. They have signed up for this crazy gig to actually help people and restore America to greatness.
The other side? We have a president with secrets. Questionable birth, college record, family ties. A man with lots of rumors floating around but even the known factors are that he attended a black liberation "church" for many years that says "God D___n America," was (is?) friends with a known terrorist, and most recently lived in Chicago, friending those in Chicago's infamous thug politics.
Our side is for limited government, constitution, private healthcare, gun rights, pro-life, capitalism and traditional marriage.
Their side is for massive government, new laws, government-run healthcare, gun laws, pro "choice" and communism (but just called something different) and same-sex marriage.
All of those will be a moot point if the economy isn't turned around in a miraculous way.
My sister is a swing voter. She voted for Reagan, Clinton, Bush and Obama. Go figure. I always ask who she's voting for, because it's always who wins. But then, that's what swing voters do. They try to figure out who is more popular, and vote for them. They don't really have the strong principles telling them to vote their conscience. They take a poll, and whichever candidate they hear mentioned more,  they vote for them. She's also a teacher, and the teacher's union floods them with liberal propaganda about how much better life will be for them if they vote Democrat. And I think she also wanted to be on record that she voted for the first black president. We don't discuss politics - we CAN'T actually, because we will only have to agree to disagree. I'm not sure what will push her to either side. Her husband and grown son have been unemployed for over a year. She's probably vascillating that maybe the Republicans will have systems in place to create jobs, yet the Democrats keep promising all of these freebies. And healthcare is super important to her since she's a Baby Boomer. She, of course, is influenced by the Trifecta of the mainstream media, Hollywood and the liberals. I think she'll end up voting for Romney if I could guess.
Because like most of us, she's really, really worried...

"Preaching to the choir..."

Just a quick post since I've been burning the candles at both ends for the past week, and don't have time for much... I've had the Republican convention on tonight and have watched the important speeches and I must say that most seem so scripted and lackluster. Ann Romney was the only one I could really connect with, and thought she seems very honest, very sincere, and very real.
The Republicans need to stick with the economy only. It's what's on our mind. If they don't fix the economy, then all of the other issues are a moot point. Am I totally against abortion and think it's murder? Yes! But births are down since this mess started in 2008, and with children in their child-bearing years, both older kids are saying they cannot even afford to bring a child into this terrible mess. The Republicans don't seem to be taking this terrible disintegration of America as seriously as they should be. We are at the edge of the cliff. We can't keep saying platitudes and let everyone be rah-rah. We need to do like Reagan used to do, and get real people, saying real things about real situations. And maybe they will -- it's only the first night. But they better listen up. Because the liberals are pretty good at garnering emotion lately, and that's what Americans are responding to.
Everyone is suffering. Everyone is worried. Everyone (with a brain) knows these problems aren't going away any time soon, but at the very least want to see SOMEONE stop this freight train to hell, and then turn it around, and start it chugging in the right direction. Mitt Romney had better be the most sincere and relatable he has ever been when he speaks later this week. The mainstream media is not covering this, and the Fox News coverage is "preaching to the choir." All the MSM will do is pick 10 second snippets of THEIR choice, or we will see a short headline about their take on the speeches they've heard through their liberal filter.
Wake up Republicans. Most of us are only responding to economic solutions because it's at the fore-front of our minds. We're worried about the cost of NEEDS -- food, fuel, and cost of living. Because at the end of the day, those are our priorities. We are alarmed at the liberals taking us "forward" into their scary agenda. And we want America to return to how it was even five years ago. But the clock is ticking. And the deficit is growing by the minute.
Tick. Tick. Tick....

And the pendulum swings....

Today was the first day of school and evidently the teachers and coaches have decided to "get tough" and go on the offensive. I thought last year went pretty well, but there's a new military school feel at our small town Texas high school, and if ANYBODY does ANYTHING, they are zero tolerant.
Take for instance, cheerleading tonight. My daughter came home sobbing. My daughter who has never made a really bad choice in her life. My daughter who hasn't made anything but straight A's her whole life. The one that is a super achiever and tries to excel at all she does. As a matter of fact, ALL of the girls there tonight want to quit. The new sponsor acts like a Nazi and kept trying to intimidate all of the girls. Mission accomplished. They all hate you now and want to quit. Cheerleading is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be an organization where you promote school spirit. The only spirit they promoted tonight was depression. And anxiety. And loss of self esteem. Why do these types of jerks become teachers? So they can push around kids that have to do what they say? So they can feel powerful?
Losers....

"I am happy to be clinging to my guns and my religion." - Rep. VP Candidate Paul Ryan

Short post tonight to say that these words are 'music to my ears.' Paul Ryan has given a shot of enthusiasm to the conservatives in this country, and he is talking our language! His quote is, "I remember this other time where (Obama) was caught on video saying 'people like to cling to their guns and religion.' Hey - I am a Catholic deer-hunter. I am happy to be clinging to my guns and religion."
Can we pick HIM to be president??...

Youth is wasted on the young

Okay it's Saturday and I'm in a really catty mood (don't ask.) So I'm doing laundry (yack) and in between reading internet news stories and looking at photos (since I can't afford magazines any more, but why bother since you can see the photos online before the magazine is even out yet.)
So I see this photo of Taylor Swift

and her new BF, Conor Kennedy, (yes, from the Kennedy clan) in what is called a "retro look." And I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a "hater," but seriously? This look is silly, sort of caricature cartoonish. If I were in my early twenties and had all the fashion at my fingertips like Taylor does, I would definitely be rocking an awesome bikini. (Sigh) And yes, it DOES suck to get older and not be able to wear a bikini or short shorts any more, so maybe all the more reason to do all of these things while she still can. I tell my children, enjoy your youth! Enjoy being young and yet make good decisions at the same time. If you do, you'll rule the world! Or at least be heading in the right direction.
At least the other girls with them got it right...

Going to Hell in a Hand-Basket

Well, I've seen it all now... Seems Mattel, which is the manufacturer for Barbie doll, has just introduced the new 'Drag Queen Barbie.' That's right. You heard it right, and I am NOT joking. The article reads that Mattel models its latest doll on cross-dressing designer from fashion label The Blonds "aiming to inspire male fans." Interesting as I was just telling my male friend that male fashion magazines like GQ are targeting gay  men, who have fashion as a priority and money to spend.
The article goes on to say, "Mattel, the company that manufactures Barbie, commissioned the work to Phillipe and David Blond of the label The Blonds, who have expressed their adoration for the doll ever since their label was born in 2007.
Cathy Cline, vice president of marketing for Mattel's girls' brands, told The New York Times: 'One of the great things about Barbie is that she continues to push the envelope. Barbie doesn't worry about what other people think.'
The doll, who really should have been modeled with the male Ken doll, features a side-swept hair style and an extremely short bejeweled mini corset dress that is laced up at the back.In 2009, The Blonds took part in Barbie's 50th birthday fashion show, which no doubt helped to push the current partnership along.

I'm speechless...

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned..."

Ok, in my quest to NOT talk about politics these days SINCE IT'S ALL WE HEAR ON THE MEDIA, tonight I choose to talk about Jennifer Aniston. Yes, thank GOD she's engaged... and I mean that truthfully. NO ONE should have to endure what she has had to go through for the last seven years, when her HUSBAND (Brad Pitt, the cad) made a movie with Angelina Jolie, left her, and immediately got Angelina pregnant, all the while with the gossip magazines covering every detail... and of course papparrazi also taking every photo. And this has NEVER let up for seven full years (and 6 kids for Brad and Angelina.)
That poor lady... I cannot even imagine having my husband cheat on me with some sexy trampire, and then leave me, and then have/adopt 6 children in 7 years, and have every bit of it covered in the magazines. Not to mention that Brad hasn't spoken well of 'Jen' in his interviews during this time. What a jerk (and THAT'S the nicest way I can say it.) And every time Jennifer looks happy or is in the news, Brad comes out and disses her and tries to steal her thunder. Yet Jennifer has always taken the high road and been a true class act, and bitten her tongue while I'm sure she wants to lash out and scream at it all.
So a huge congratulations to her. And best wishes for a (rest of) lifetime of happiness with her fiance Justin Theroux. To me, he seems odd, and "dark" in a goth sort of way. But I guess he's a writer, an "artist" with a tortured soul? And it's also no secret that Jennifer started dating him while he was living with his girlfriend of 14 years, and then he left her so, who's the home wrecker now?
Anyway.
I hope she's happy now. And won't have to endure being on the split cover of every trashy magazine with either Brad or Angelina. And, of course, "Brangelina" are rumored to be getting married fairly soon, so there's that. Which leaves Justin's ex out there as the jilted one.
So here's hoping for her now...

You've come a long way baby....

Tonight I don't want to talk about politics... I'm already tired of all of this politic-ing and we've only just begun... Besides, I already know who I'm voting for, so what's the point of following it all blow by blow. Haven't MOST people in America decided?? Sheesh, we've been doing this a year already, and if someone is undecided at this point, they are a freaking IDIOT!! Do I want to see Paul Ryan say a few speeches telling the current administration where to stick it?? You betcha. But then it all becomes stressful when the liberals start all of their antics and cheating and lying and stealing and idiocy... Conservatives are rule-followers by nature, and liberals are not. It gets REALLY irritating. And arguing does no good. I'm not going to make them change their mind and they aren't going to get me to.

No tonight I want to talk about Miley Cyrus' hair. Because she is a good visual for all that is wrong with America. Here are the pictures of Miley (formerly named Destiny at birth but took her nickname) when she began Disney's "Hannah Montana" TV show, and the latest from a few days ago when she chopped it all off in what is called an "edgy" style.
Uh- huh........

Need some R&R

Was out of town over the weekend, so am only now able to post.... The biggest news this weekend was that Mitt Romney chose Paul Ryan to run on his ticket as vice president. My initial response? That it wouldn't hurt him.... but I didn't see how it was a very exciting pick either....
My choice was Marco Rubio by a long shot. He's young. He's brilliant. He's Cuban-Hispanic. He's handsome. He's charismatic. But then I realized, those are the reasons Romney did NOT choose him. Rubio would overshadow Romney, much like Sarah Palin did for John McCain. All the talk would be about the up-and-comer Rubio, instead of on Romney, and that would have stolen his thunder.
My friend commented that he liked the pick; that it would show America that it's the ticket that would get business moving again and pull us out of this deep recession. Yes, it's two white guys but it's two white guys that are smart, financial savvy, love America and are not prejudiced. And Paul Ryan is Catholic and conservative, so most figure that will fire up the pro-Life Republican base to get out there and fight in these last three months of the race.
I guess the more I think about it, the more Ryan grows on me. And it better.
November will be here before we know it...

Good cop, bad cop

Sorry, no time to post... Here is a pic from my daughter's dance team's scavenger hunt. Yes, her group had to find a cop to take a photo with.

"For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required." - Luke 12:48

I am done with the mainstream media... Completely done... And I am so angry, that I don't even know where to direct my anger. I BLAME YOU, MAINSTREAM MEDIA, for screwing this country up, and sending us on a highway to hell that we may never come out of!!
The most recent story that angers me more than anything is the press (make that the New York Times, but then they are the benchmark for all media, aren't they??) who ripped Olympic athlete Lolo Jones because she's a virgin. The MSM has also been an accomplice in seeking to destroy Tim Tebow, also a self described virgin as well.
Why can't they just leave these people alone?!? It's their CHOICE. I thought we are still FREE in America to do as we wish, unless it harms someone else. And here are two people who are choosing to remain disease-free, and save themselves for their spouses like the Bible says to do.
Oh, you got it. Therein lies the rub. Mainstream media types are vile and disgusting and will mock anyone who doesn't stoop to their depraved lifestyle. Why is abstinence such a "sin" to these types? I'll tell you. It makes them feel bad. It makes them feel guilty. Because deep down MOST of them have been taught right from wrong. They just feel better about it when the majority are with them. You know, "safety in numbers." Well, they need to read some other stories in the Bible too. Because God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because he couldn't find at least TEN righteous people. Ten. Don't take my word for it, read for yourselves in Genesis 18.
The mainstream media is an accomplice to the detriment of this country - to the downfall of this country. And they are so blinded, that they cannot see that they are cutting off their nose to spite their face. Someday we will all meet our Maker when we die. We will be face to face with Him and give an account of our words and actions. And although the MSM types will shake their finger in the face of God and say, "I don't believe in You,"  I am reminded that God says in His word that, "EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Bow now or bow later.
It's your choice...

"Stupid is as stupid does." - Forrest Gump

Evil continues in our beloved country... Today a shooter (I've actually read there were four shooters) went in a Sikh Temple and murdered people. Reports say it was a white supremist, a stupid one (but aren't they all?) that mistook them for Muslims. In actuality, they are a peaceful religion that does not have jihad or kill the infidel mentality. Great...
Now the mainstream media and liberals will accuse all Christians of being white supremists...

Let them eat cake.

Today is the president's birthday. Evidently the Republican National Committee sent the cake you see here to the Democratic National Committee and they sent it back. Wow. What are we in junior high?!
I think we need to vote out almost all of the current politicians.
In other news, the president spent his birthday playing golf.
Ugh...

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia...

Just read that CBS has a Brady Bunch reboot in the works... Somehow this makes me happy. I know I sound lame by saying that but I don't care. There's something about watching old Brady Bunch reruns that reminds me of how great and simple and sweet and fun life was, even back in the 60's. Yes, it wasn't real life, and in reality, many of those actors had big 'skeletons' in the closet, but those days were still way more innocent than what we have to endure these days.
We should be so lucky to have the kinds of problems that they were having...

How Sweet it is....

Just a quick post to say I drove 50 miles yesterday to go to the nearest Chick-Fil-A... And it was wonderful. We got there around 7:00 pm and there was a long line out the door and an even longer line for the drive through. Everyone was nice and patient and glad to be there to support the cause. They seemed to have 'all hands on deck' with every employee there, and the wait for food was close to 30 minutes, but no one seemed to mind. It was the same feeling I've gotten when I've attended Tea Party rallies. Just really nice, well-mannered people who are fed up. Fed up with being told what we can and can't say. Fed up with having our freedoms taken from us, inch by inch. Too, it was the icing on the cake, since we found out yesterday that the Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz won here in Texas. It was just a euphoric day.
And I'm looking forward to many more...
